26. Thus the hellish beings remain in trouble as a result of the bad Karma collected by them in earlier life or lives by committing sins. They burn in fire of the drastic hell, indeed a ferocious fire. They experience physical and mental pain, which is of extreme order, frightening and highly unbearable as they had committed sin in earlier life-span. Their pain lasts for many Palyopam or Sagaropam; they remain in extremely wretched and pitiable state throughout their life. They are tortured by ferocious gods who serve under deadly god (Yamadev) guarding the southern region. They weap and cry out of fear as result of unbearable pain they suffer.
(दुस्सह वेदना के वशीभूत होकर) भयभीत होकर रोते-चिल्लाते हैं।
विवेचन : जैसे सामान्य मनुष्य और तिर्यंच उपघात आदि के निमित्त प्राप्त होने पर अकालमरण से मर जाते हैं, वैसा नारकों में नहीं होता। उनकी आयु निरुपक्रम होती है। जितने काल की आयु बँधी है, नियम से उतने ही काल में वह भोगी जाती है। नारक जीव अनेकानेक पल्योपमों और सागरोपमों तक निरन्तर ये वेदनाएँ भुगतते रहते हैं ।
Elaboration-Unlike ordinary human beings and animals who die without completing their total life-span as a result of hurt caused by external sources (weapons, diseases and the like), the hellish beings do not die under such conditions. There life-span cannot end in this manner as it is nir-upakram life-span. They have to complete their life as pre-determined. The hellish beings suffers the painful feeling continuously for a period running into many Palyopam and Sagaropam. नारक जीवों की करुण पुकार BEMOANING OF HELLISH BEINGS २७. [प्र.] किं ते ?

[ उ. ] अविभाव सामि भाय बप्प ताय जियवं मुय मे, मरामि दुब्बलो वाहिपीलिओऽहं किं दाणि एवं दारुणो द्दिय ? मा देहि मे पहारे, उस्सासेयं मुहुत्तं मे देहि, पसायं करेह, मा रुस वीसमामि, गेविज्जं मुह मे मरामि गाढं तहाइओ अहं देहि पाणीयं ।
२७. [ प्र. ] (नारक जीव) किस प्रकार रोते-चिल्लाते क्रन्दन करते हैं ?
[ उ. ] हे अज्ञातबन्धु ! हे स्वामिन् ! हे भ्राता ! अरे बाप ! हे तात ! हे विजेता ! मुझे छोड़ दो। मैं
मर रहा हूँ। मैं दुर्बल हूँ। मैं व्याधि पीड़ित हूँ । आप इस समय क्यों इतने कठोर हृदय दारुण एवं निर्दय हो रहे हैं ? मेरे ऊपर प्रहार मत करो। मुझे मुहूर्त्तभर थोड़े समय तक साँस तो लेने दीजिए। दया कीजिए । रोष न कीजिए। मैं जरा विश्राम ले लूँ। मेरा गला छोड़ दीजिए। मैं मरा जा रहा हूँ । प्यास से मेरा गला सूखा जा रहा है। मुझे थोड़ा-सा पानी दे दीजिए।
