84555555 55555555555555555558 ॐ भयंकर हैं, गम्भीर एवं रोमांच खड़े कर देने वाले हैं, घृणास्पद हैं। वे नारक जीव असाध्य कुष्ठ आदि के व्याधियों, रोगों एवं जरा से पीड़ित रहते हैं। वहाँ सदैव अन्धकार रहने के कारण प्रत्येक वस्तु अतीव
भयानक लगती है। ग्रह, चन्द्रमा, सूर्य, नक्षत्र आदि का प्रकाश वहाँ नहीं होता। मेद, चर्बी, माँस के ढेर
होने से वह स्थान अत्यन्त घृणास्पद है। पीव और रुधिर के निरन्तर बहते रहने से वहाँ की भूमि गीली . 卐 और चिकनी रहती है और कीचड़-सी बनी रहती है।
(जहाँ उष्णता की प्रधानता है) वहाँ का स्पर्श दहकती हुई करीष की अग्नि या खदिर (खैर) की ॐ अग्नि के समान उष्ण तथा तलवार, उस्तरा अथवा करौत की धार के सदृश तीक्ष्ण है। वह स्पर्श बिच्छू + + के डंक से भी अधिक वेदना उत्पन्न करने वाला अतिशय दुस्सह्य है। वहाँ के नारक जीव त्राण और
शरणविहीन हैं-न कोई उनकी रक्षा करने वाला है, न उन्हें आश्रय देने वाला है। वे नरक कटुक दुःखों - ऊ के कारण घोर परिणाम उत्पन्न करने वाले हैं। वहाँ लगातार दुःखरूप वेदना चालू ही रहती है-पलभर ॥ 5 के लिए भी चैन नहीं मिलता। वहाँ यमपुरुष अर्थात् पन्द्रह प्रकार के असुर जाति के परमाधामी देव उन्हें
घेरे रहते हैं। नारकों को भयंकर-भयंकर यातनाएँ देते हैं। (जिनका वर्णन आगे किया जायेगा।) 卐 23. The evil people who commit violence on living beings are re-born .
in the hell after completing their present life-span because of the bad Karmas collected by them in plenty.
So far as area and the life-span is concerned, the hell is very large. Its 4 walls are extremely hard like Vajra. There are no holes in them. There is * no door for coming out from the hell. Its ground is extremely hard. The
hellish prison is undulating. The halls in the hell are extremely hot and remain scorching. The living beings there remain bewildered because of foul smell.
The hellish scene is very dreadful. It appears very drastic at the very first appearance. At those places in the hell where cold is in abundance, it is as cold as snow covered hills. Such hells are dreadful, drastic and worthy of contempt. The hellish beings suffer from incurable diseases like leprosy and others and affect of old age. Since there is always darkness in hell, every thing there appears to be extremely frightening. Planets, the moon, the sun, constellations and the like providing light are not there. There are heaps of marrow, and meat. So that place is extremely detestable. Since blood and mucus flow continuously, the
ground remains greasy and slippery. It appears as if it is muddy 卐 continuously.
The touch of the hell where heat is in abundance is as burning as the fire of dung cakes or of khair wood. It is as sharp as the edge of a sword, a razor or a saw. That touch is more painful than a scorpion-bite and is extremely unbearable. The hellish beings living there are without any
