१०. [ २ ] सा य संपट्टिया जहा निग्गंथस्स तिण्णि गमा भणिया एवं निग्गंथीए वि तिणि आलावगा भाणिव्वा जाव आराहिया, नो विराहिया ।
१०. [ २ ] जिस प्रकार सम्प्रस्थित (आलोचनादि के हेतु स्थविरों के पास जाने के लिए रवाना हुए) निर्ग्रन्थ के तीन गम - (पाठ) उसी प्रकार सम्प्रस्थित (प्रवर्तिनी के पास आलोचनादि हेतु रवाना हुई) साध्वी के भी तीन गम - (पाठ) कहने चाहिए, यावत् वह साध्वी आराधिका है, विराधिका नहीं; यहाँ तक सारा पाठ कहना चाहिए।
10. [2] Like the three sets of statements about male ascetics on the way and having reached their destination, three sets of statements should be repeated for female ascetics. These alternatives should be repeated verbatim up to ' such a nirgranthi (a female ascetic) is ! steadfast (araadhak) and not faltering in conduct (viraadhak)'.

११. [ प्र. १ ] से केणणं भंते ! एवं बुच्चइ-आराहए, नो विराहए ?
[ उ. ] गोयमा ! से जहानामए केइ पुरिसे एगं महं उष्णालोमं वा गयलोमं वा सणलोमं वा ५ कष्पासलोमं वा तणसूयं वा दुहा वा तिहा वा संखेज्जहा वा छिंदित्ता अगणिकायंसि पक्खिवेज्जा, से नूणं ५ गोयमा ! छिज्जमा छिन्ने, पक्खिप्पमाणे पक्खित्ते, डज्झमाणे दडे त्ति वत्तव्यं सिया ?
हंता भगवं ! छिज्जमाणे छिन्ने जाव दडे त्ति वत्तव्यं सिया ।
११. [ प्र. १ ] भगवन् ! किस कारण से आप कहते हैं कि वे (पूर्वोक्त प्रकार के साधु और साध्वी) आराधक हैं, विराधक नहीं ?

[ उ. ] गौतम ! जैसे कोई पुरुष एक बड़े ऊन (भेड़) के बाल के या हाथी के रोम के अथवा सण के फ्र रेशे के या कपास के रेशे के अथवा तृण (घास) के अग्र भाग के दो, तीन या संख्यात टुकड़े करके अग्निकाय (आग) में डाले, तो हे गौतम! काटे जाते हुए वे (टुकड़े) काटे गए, अग्नि में ले जाते हुए को डाले गए, या जलते हुए को जल गए, क्या इस प्रकार कहा जा सकता है ?

(गौतम स्वामी-) हाँ, भगवन् ! काटते हुए काटे गए, अग्नि में डालते हुए डाले गए और जलते हुए जल गए; यों कहा जा सकता है 1

11. [Q. 1] Bhante ! Why do you say that they (such male and female ascetic) are steadfast (araadhak) and not faltering in conduct 卐 (viraadhak)?

[Ans.] Gautam! Suppose a man takes some wool from a lamb, or hair 5 from an elephant, or some fibers of hemp or cotton, or simply a few sticks of hay, cuts them into two, three or a countable number of pieces, and 卐 hurls them into a fire; then can you say that these (pieces) have been cut while they were being cut, hurled while being thrown and burnt while being burnt in fire?
