महापुराणे उत्तरपुराणम् म्नायुरन्ते विनिर्याय ततो भूत्वा मृगाधिपः । क्षुत्पिपासादिभिर्वातातपवर्षादिभिश्च धिक् ॥ १९॥ १वाध्यमानः पुनः प्राणिहिंसया मांसमाहरन् । क्रूरः पापं समुचित्य पृथिवीं प्रथमामगाः॥१९॥ ततोऽपीह समुद्भूय क्रौर्यमेवं समुद्वहन् । महदंहः समावणं दुःखायोत्सहसे पुनः ॥ १९३ ॥ अहो प्रवृद्धमज्ञानं तत्ते यस्य प्रभावतः । पापिस्तत्त्वे न जानासीत्याकर्ण्य तदुदीरितम् ॥ १९४ ॥ सद्यो जातिस्मृतिं गत्वा घोरसंसारदुःखजात् । भयाञ्चलितसर्वाङ्गो गलद्वाष्पजलोऽभवत् ॥ १९५ ॥ लोचनाभ्यां हरेर्बाष्पसलिलं न्यगलच्चिरम् । सम्यक्त्वाय हृदि स्थान मिथ्यात्वमिव दित्सु तत् ॥ १९६ ।। प्रत्यासनविनेयानां स्मृतप्राग्जन्मजन्मिनाम् । पश्चात्तापेन यः शोकः संस्तौ स न कस्यचित् ॥ १९७ ॥ हरिं शान्तान्तरङ्गत्वात्स्वस्मिन्बद्धनिरीक्षणम् । विलोक्यैष हितग्राहीत्याहैवं स मुनिः पुनः ॥ १९ ॥ पुरा पूरूखा भूत्वा धर्मात्सौधर्मकल्पजः। जातस्ततोऽवतीर्यान मरीचिरतिदुर्मतिः ॥ १९९ ॥ सन्मार्गदूषणं कृत्वा कुमार्गमतिवर्धयन् । वृषभस्वामिनो वाक्यमनादृत्याजवजवे ॥२०॥ भ्रान्तो जातिजरामृत्युसन्ततेः पापसञ्चयात् । विप्रयोग प्रियोगमप्रियरामुवंश्विरम् ॥ २०१॥ अपरञ्च महादुःखं बृहत्पापोदयोदितम् । सस्थावरसम्भूतावसङ्ग्यातसमा भ्रमन् ॥ २०२॥ केनापि हेतुनावाप्य विश्वनन्दित्वमाप्तवान् । संयम त्वं निदानेन त्रिपृष्ठस्वमुपेयिवान् ॥ २०३॥ इतोऽस्मिन्दशमे भावी भवेऽन्त्यस्तीर्थकृगवान् । सर्वमश्रावि तीर्थेशान्मयेदं श्रीधराड्यात् ॥ २०४॥ अद्यप्रभृति संसारघोरारण्यप्रपातनात् । धीमन्विरम दुर्मार्गादारमात्महिते मते ॥ २०५॥
क्षेमजेदाप्तुमिच्छास्ति कामं लोकाग्रधामनि । आतागमपदार्थेषु श्रद्धां धत्स्वेति तद्वचः ॥ २०६॥ प्रार्थना की परन्तु तुझे कहीं भी शरण नहीं मिली जिससे अत्यन्त दुःखी हुआ ॥ १६०॥ अपनी आयु समाप्त होनेपर तू वहाँ से निकलकर सिंह हुआ और वहाँ भी भूख-प्यास वायु गर्मी वर्षा आदि की बाधासे अत्यन्त दुःखी हुअा। वहाँ तू प्राणिहिंसाकर मांसका आहार करता था इसलिए क्रूरताके कारण पापका संचयकर पहले नरक गया।। १६१-१६२॥ वहाँसे निकल कर तू फिर सिंह हुआ है
और इस तरह क्रूरता कर महान् पापका अर्जन करता हुआ दुःखके लिए फिर उत्साह कर रहा है ॥ १६३ ॥ अरे पापी ! तेरा अज्ञान बहुत बढ़ा हुआ है उसीके प्रभावसे तू तत्त्वको नहीं जानता है । इस प्रकार मुनिराजके वचन सुनकर उस सिंहको शीघ्र ही जातिस्मरण हो गया। संसारके भयंकर दुःखोंसे उत्पन्न हुए भयसे उसका समस्त शरीर काँपने लगा तथा आँखोंसे आँसू गिरने लगे ॥१६४-- १६५ ॥ सिंहक़ी आँखोंसे बहुत देर तक अश्रुरूपी जल गिरता रहा जिससे ऐसा जान पड़ता था मानो हृदयमें सम्यक्त्यके लिए स्थान देनेकी इच्छासे मिथ्यात्व ही बाहर निकल रहा था ।। १६६ ॥ जिन्हें पूर्व जन्मका स्मरण हो गया है ऐसे निकटभव्य जीवोंको पश्चात्तापसे जो शोक होता है वह शोक संसारमें किसीको नहीं होता ॥ १६७ ॥ मुनिराजने देखा कि इस सिंहका अन्तःकरण शान्त हो गया है और यह मेरी ही ओर देख रहा है इससे जान पड़ता है कि यह इस समय अवश्य ही अपना हित ग्रहण करेगा, ऐसा विचार कर मुनिराज फिर कहने लगे कि तू पहले पुरूरवा भील था फिर धर्म सेवन कर सौधर्म स्वर्गमें देव हुआ। वहाँसे चयकर इसी भरतक्षेत्रमें अत्यन्त दुर्मति मरीचि हुआ ॥ १६८-१६६ ।। उस पर्यायमें तूने सन्मार्गको दूषित कर कुमार्गकी वृद्धि की। श्री ऋषभदेव तीर्थकरके वचनोंका अनादर कर तू संसारमें भ्रमण करता रहा । पापोंका संचय करनेसे जन्म. जरा और मरणके दुःख भोगता रहा तथा बड़े भारी पापकर्मके उदयसे प्राप्त होनेवाले इष्ट-वियोग तथा अनिष्ट संयोगका तीव्र दुःख चिरकाल तक भोगकर तूने त्रस स्थावर योनियों में असंख्यात वर्ष तक भ्रमण किया॥२००-२०२ ॥ किसी कारणसे विश्वनन्दीकी पर्याय पाकर तूने संयम धारण किया तथा निदान कर त्रिपृष्ठ नारायणका पद प्राप्त किया । २०३ ।। अब इस भवसे तू दशवे भवमें अन्तिम तीर्थंकर होगा। यह सब मैंने श्रीधर तीर्थंकरसे सुना है ।। २०४॥ हे बुद्धिमान् ! अब तू आजसे लेकर संसाररूपी अटवीमें गिरानेवाले मिथ्यामार्गसे विरत हो और आत्माका हित करनेवाले मार्गमें रमण कर-उसीमें लीन रह ।। २०५॥ यदि आत्मकल्याणकी तेरी इच्छा है और लोकके अग्रभाग पर तू
