महापुराणे उत्तरपुराणम् दशाङ्गभोगसम्भोगयोगसन्तर्पितेन्द्रियः। 'समर्थितार्थिसङ्कल्पाऽनल्पकल्पमहीरुहः ॥ १०७ ॥ हिमवत्सागराघाटमहीमध्यमहीभुजाम् । आधिपत्यं समासन्वमन्वभूदधिकां श्रियम् ॥१०८॥ प्रपात्येवं सुखेनास्य काले सौधर्मसंसदि । सनत्कुमार देवेन्द्ररूपस्यास्त्यत्र जित्वरः ॥ १०९ ॥ कोऽपीति देवैः सम्पृष्टः सौधर्मेन्द्रोऽब्रवीदिदम् । सनत्कुमारश्चक्रेशो वाढं सर्वाङ्गसुन्दरः ॥ ११०॥ स्वम्मेऽपि केनचित्तादृग्दृष्टपूर्वः कदाचन । नास्तीति तद्वचः श्रुत्वा सद्यः सञ्जातकौतुकौ ॥ १११ ॥ द्वौ देवौ भुवमागत्य तद्रपालोकनेच्छया। दृष्ट्वा तं शक्रसम्प्रोक्तं सत्यमित्यात्तसम्मदौ ॥ ११२॥ सनत्कुमारचक्रेशं निजागमनकारणम् । बोधयित्वा सुधीश्चक्रिन् शृणु चित्तं समादधन् ॥ १३॥ यदि रोगजरादुःखमृत्यवो न स्युरत्र ते । सौन्दर्येण २त्वमत्रैवमतिशेषे जिनानपि ॥ ११४ ॥ इत्युक्त्वा तौ सुरौ सूक्तं स्वधाम सहसा गतौ । काललब्ध्येव तद्वाचा प्रबुद्धो भूभुजां पतिः॥११५॥ रूपयौवनसौन्दर्यसम्पत्सौख्यादयो नृणाम् । विद्युलतावितानाच्च मन्ये प्रागेव'नश्वराः॥११६ ॥ इत्वरीः सम्पदस्त्यक्त्वा जित्वरोऽहमिहैनसाम् । सत्वरं तनुमुन्झित्वा गत्वरोऽस्मीत्यकायताम् ॥ ११ ॥ स्मरन् देवकुमाराख्ये सुते राज्य नियोज्य सः। शिवगुप्तजिनोपान्ते दीक्षां बहुभिराददे ॥ ११८ ॥ पञ्चभिः सव्रतैः पूज्यः पालितेर्यादिपञ्चकः । षडावश्यकवश्यात्मानिरुद्धेन्द्रियसन्ततिः ॥ ११९ ॥ निश्चेलः कृतभूवासो दन्तधावनवर्जितः । उत्थायैवैकदाभोजी स्फुरन्मूलगुणैरलम् ॥ १२० ॥
शरीरकी ऊँचाई पूर्व चक्रवर्तीके शरीरकी ऊँचाईके समान साढ़े व्यालीस धनुष थी। सुवर्णके समान कान्तिवाले उस चक्रवर्तीने समस्त पृथिवीको अपने अधीन कर लिया था।॥१०६।। दश प्रकारके भोगके समागमसे उसकी समस्त इन्द्रियाँ सन्तृप्त हुई थी। वह याचकों के संकल्पको पूर्ण करनेवाला मानो बड़ा भारी कल्पवृक्ष ही था ।। १०७ ।। हिमवान् पर्वतसे लेकर दक्षिण समुद्र तककी पृथिवीके बीच जितने राजा थे उन सबके ऊपर आधिपत्यको विस्तृत करता हुआ वह बहुत भारी लक्ष्मीका उपभोग करता था ॥ १०८ ॥ - इस प्रकार इधर इनका समय सुखप्से व्यतीत हो रहा था उधर सौधर्म इन्द्रकी सभामें देवोंने सौधर्मेन्द्रसे पूछा कि क्या कोई इस लोकमें सनत्कुमार इन्द्रके रूपको जीतनेवाला है ? सौधर्मेन्द्रने उत्तर दिया कि हाँ, सनत्कुमार चक्रवर्ती सर्वाङ्ग सुन्दर है। उसके समान रूपवाला पुरुष कभी किसीने स्वप्नमें भी नहीं देखा है। सौधर्मेन्द्रके वचन सुनकर दो देवोंको कौतूहल उत्पन्न हुआ
और वे उसका रूप देखनेकी इच्छासे पृथिवीपर आये। जब उन्होंने सनत्कुमार चक्रवर्तीको देखा तब 'सौधर्मेन्द्रका कहना ठीक है। ऐसा कहकर वे बहुत ही हर्षित हुए ।। १०६-११२॥ उन देवोंने सनत्कुमार चक्रवर्तीको अपने आनेका कारण बतलाकर कहा कि हे बुद्धिमन् ! चक्रवर्तिन् ! चित्तको सावधानकर सुनिये-यदि इस संसारमें आपके लिए रोग, बुढ़ापा, दुःख तथा मरणकी सम्भावना न हो तो ग्राप अपने सौन्दर्यसे तीर्थङ्करको भी जीत सकते हैं-११३-११४॥ ऐसा कहकर वे दोनों देव शीघ्र ही अपने स्थानपर चले गये। राजा सनत्कुमार उन देवोंके वचनोंसे ऐसा प्रतिबुद्ध हाआ मानो काललब्धिने ही आकर उसे प्रतिबुद्ध कर दिया हो ।। १२५ ॥ वह चिन्तवन करने लगा कि मनुष्योंके रूप, यौवन, सौन्दर्य, सम्पत्ति और सुख आदि बिजलीरूप लताके विस्तारसे पहले ही नष्ट हो जानेवाले हैं ॥ ११६ ।। मैं इन नश्वर सम्पत्तियोंको छोड़कर पापोंका जीतनेवाला बनूंगा और शीघ्र ही इस शरीरको छोड़कर अशरीर अवस्थाको प्राप्त होऊँगा ॥११७॥ ऐसा विचारकर उन्होंने देवकुमार नामक पुत्रके लिए राज्य देकर शिवगुप्त जिनेन्द्र के समीप अनेक राजाओंके साथ दीक्षा ले ली ॥ ११८ ।। वे अहिंसा आदि पाँच महाव्रतोंसे पूज्य थे, ईर्या आदि पाँच समितियोंका पालन करते थे, छह आवश्यकोंसे उन्होंने अपने आपको वश कर लिया था, इन्द्रियोंकी सन्ततिको रोक लिया था, वस्त्रका त्यागकर रखाथा, वे पृथिवीपर शयन करते थे, कभी दातौन नहीं करते थे खडेखड़े एक बार भोजन करते थे। इस प्रकार अट्ठाईस मूलगुणोंसे अत्यन्त शोभायमान थे॥११६-१२०।।

He was like a great Kalpa tree, fulfilling the desires of those who sought his help. || 107 || He ruled over the entire earth, from the Himalayas to the southern ocean, and enjoyed immense wealth. || 108 ||

While they were enjoying themselves, the Devas in the assembly of Sudharma Indra asked him, "Is there anyone in this world who can conquer the form of Sanatkumar Indra?" Sudharma Indra replied, "Yes, Sanatkumar Chakravarti is the most beautiful of all. No one has ever seen a man like him, even in their dreams." Hearing this, two Devas were filled with curiosity and came to earth to see him. When they saw Sanatkumar Chakravarti, they exclaimed, "Sudharma Indra was right!" and were overjoyed. || 109-112 ||

They explained the reason for their arrival to Sanatkumar Chakravarti and said, "O wise Chakravarti! Listen with an attentive mind. If you were free from the possibility of disease, old age, sorrow, and death in this world, then you could conquer even the Tirthankaras with your beauty." || 113-114 ||

Saying this, the two Devas quickly returned to their own abode. King Sanatkumar was enlightened by their words, as if time itself had come to enlighten him. || 115 ||

He began to think, "The beauty, youth, wealth, and happiness of humans are like the tendrils of a lightning vine, which perish quickly." || 116 ||

"I will abandon these fleeting possessions and become a conqueror of sins. I will quickly shed this body and attain the state of being without a body." || 117 ||

Thinking this, he entrusted his kingdom to his son, Devakumar, and took initiation along with many kings near Shivgupt Jinendra. || 118 ||

He was worthy of worship due to the five great vows of non-violence, etc. He followed the five principles of conduct, etc. He controlled himself with the six essentials, restrained his senses, renounced clothing, slept on the ground, and never brushed his teeth. He ate only once a day, standing up. He was adorned with the twenty-eight fundamental virtues. || 119-120 ||

His height was forty-five dhanus, the same as the height of the previous Chakravarti. He had a complexion like gold and ruled over the entire earth. || 106 ||
