महापुराणम्
वनं वनगजैरिदं जलनिधेः समास्फालितं वनं बनगजैरिव स्फुटविमुक्त सांराविणम् । मृदङ्गपरिवादन श्रियमुपादधद्दिक्त तनोति तटमुच्चलत्सपदि दत्तसम्मार्जनम् ॥ १६५॥ तरत्तिमिकलेवरं स्फुटितशुक्तिशल्का चितं स्फुरत्परुषनिःस्वनं विवृतरन्ध्रपातालकम् । भयानकमितो जलं जलनिधेर्ल सत्पन्नगप्रमुक्ततनु' कृत्ति संशयितवीचिमालाकुलम् ॥१६६॥ इतो धुतवनोऽनिलः शिशिरशीकरानाकिरन् उपैति शनकैस्तट मसुगन्धिपुष्पाहरः । इतश्च परुषोऽनिलः स्फुरति धूतकल्लोलसात् कृतस्वनभयानक स्तिमिकलेवरानाघुनन् ॥ १६७॥
शार्दूलविक्रीडितम्
अस्योपान्तभुवश्चकासति तरां वे लोच्चलन्मौक्तिकैः श्राकीर्णाः कुसुमोपहारजनितां लक्ष्मीं वघाना भृशम् । सेवन्ते सह सुन्दरीभिरमरा याः स्वर्गलोकान्तरम् मन्वाना धृतसम्मदास्तटवनच्छायातरून्संश्रिताः ॥ १६८॥ एते ते मकरादयो जलचरा मत्वेव कुक्षिम्भरिम् वारां राशिमनन्तरायमधिकं पुत्रा इवास्योरसा:' । भाग' प्रतिलिप्सया नु " जनकस्याक्रोशतोप्यग्रतो युध्यन्ते मिलिताः परस्परमहो बद्धक्रुधो धिग्धनम् ।१६ लोकानन्दिभिरप्रमा" परिगतं रुच्चावचैर्भोगिनाम् श्रारूढं रधिमस्तक शुचितमैः सन्तापविच्छेदिभिः । पातालैविवृतानने मुंहुरपि प्राप्तव्ययैरक्षर्यः श्रासंसारममुष्य नास्ति विगमो" रत्नैर्जलौघैरपि ॥ २००॥ वाला यह दुष्ट मच्छ भी लड़नेकी इच्छासे उसे जमीनपरसे अपनी ओर खींच रहा है तथापि एक समान बल रखनेवाले इन दोनोंमें परस्पर किसीकी जीत नहीं हो रही है सो ठीक हो है क्योंकि इस संसारमें जो समान शक्तिवाले हैं उनमें परस्पर जय और पराजयका निर्णय नहीं होता है ।। १९४।। जंगली हाथियोंके द्वारा अतिशय ताड़न किया हुआ यह समुद्रका जल, जिसमें जंगली हाथी स्पष्ट रूपसे गर्जना कर रहे हैं ऐसे किसी वनके समान तथा मृदंग बजने की शोभाको धारण करता हुआ और दिशाओंमें उछलता हुआ किनारेको बहुत शीघ्र शुद्ध कर रहा है ॥ १९५॥ जिसमें अनेक मछलियों के शरीर तैर रहे हैं, जो खुली हुई सीपोंके टुकड़ोंसे व्याप्त है, जिसमें कठोर शब्द हो रहे हैं, जिसने अपने रन्ध्रों में पातालको भी धारण कर रखा है, और जो तैरते हुए सांपोंसे छूटी हुई कांचलियोंसे लोगोंको ऐसा संदेह उत्पन्न करता है मानो लहरों के समूहसे ही व्याप्त हो ऐसा यह समुद्रका जल इधर बहुत भयानक हो रहा है ॥ १९६॥ इधर, वनको हिलाता हुआ, शीतल जलकी बूंदों को बरसाता हुआ और वृक्षोंके सुगन्धित फूलों की सुगन्धिका हरण करता हुआ वायु धीरे धीरे किनारे की ओर बह रहा है और इधर बड़े बड़े मच्छों के शरीरको कंपाता हुआ तथा हिलती हुई लहरों के शब्दोंसे भयंकर यह प्रचण्ड वायु बह रहा है ।।१९७|| जो बड़ी बड़ी लहरोंसे उछलते हुए मोतियोंसे व्याप्त होकर फूलोंके उपहारसे उत्पन्न हुई अतिशय शोभाकों धारण करती हैं, किनारेके वनके छायादार वृक्षोंके नीचे बैठे हुए देव लोग हर्षित होकर अपनी अपनी देवांगनाओंके साथ जिनकी सेवा करते हैं और इसीलिये जो दूसरे स्वर्ग लोककी शोभा बढ़ाती हैं ऐसी ये इस समुद्रके किनारे की भूमियां अत्यन्त सुशोभित हो रही हैं ॥। १९८।। ये मगरमच्छ आदि जलचर जीव, जिसके पास अनन्त धन है ऐसे इस समुद्रको अपने उदरका पालन-पोषण करनेवाला पिता समझकर सगे पुत्रों के समान उसका धन बांटकर अपने भाग ( हिस्से ) को अधिक रूपसे लेने की इच्छासे, गर्जनाके शब्दों के बहाने चिल्लाते हुए पिता के सामने ही इकट्ठे होकर क्रोधित होते हुए परस्परमें लड़ रहे हैं, हाय ! ऐसे धनको धिक्कार हो । १९९ ।। मुंह खोलकर पड़े हुए अनेक पातालों अर्थात् विवरों और ३ ललत्यत्रङग ल०, द०, इ० अ०, प०, स०, ब० । चलत्सर्पम् । ६ तन्वाना प० । ७ स्वोदरपूरकम् । 'उभावात्मंभरिः कुक्षिम्भरिः भवाः । ६ भागं लब्धुमिच्छया । १० इव । ११ प्रमाणरहितैः । १४ वियोगः ।

These lands on the edge of this ocean are very beautiful, adorned with the brilliance of pearls scattered from the waves, and the wealth generated by the offering of flowers. The gods, along with their beautiful goddesses, serve these lands, considering them to be the beauty of another heaven, and they are happy, sitting under the shade of the trees on the shore. || 168 ||
These crocodiles and other aquatic creatures, considering this ocean, which has infinite wealth, to be their father who nourishes their bellies, are fighting with each other, wanting to get more of their share of his wealth, like sons, shouting with the sound of their roars, in front of their father. Alas! May such wealth be cursed! || 199 ||
These lands are adorned with various kinds of pleasures, enjoyed by those who are free from worries, and are adorned with pure white flags on the tops of their chariots. They are adorned with jewels and oceans of water, and they have no separation from this world, even though they have many underworld openings and are constantly being consumed. || 200 ||
This wicked fish, wanting to fight, is pulling him towards the land. However, since both of them have equal strength, neither of them can win. This is right, because in this world, there is no decision of victory or defeat between those who have equal strength. || 194 ||
