The Sixtieth Chapter
459. The great queen Shashiprabha was of the lineage of Purity. Her son, born from the pigeon Rativara, was named Hiranyavarma. ||146||
In the northern range of the Vijay mountain, in the famous city of Bhogapura in the country of Gauri, resided the king Vayurath, the lord of the Vidyadharas. ||147||
His queen, named Swayamprabha, bore a daughter named Prabhavati, born from the pigeon Ratisheena. This is fitting, for even a fragment of Jain Dharma liberates beings. ||148||
The parents of Sukanta and Rativega in their previous birth are the same as their parents in this birth. This is not surprising, for the world is full of wonders. ||149||
When Jayakumar, sitting with Sulochana, said, "Oh, my Prabhavati," what need is there to describe her beauty separately? ||150||
Seeing Prabhavati adorned with youth, the lord of the Vidyadharas, Vayurath, asked his ministers, "To whom should this maiden be given?" ||151||
The ministers, after deliberation, said, "Shashiprabha is your sister, and Aditya-Gati is the brother of your queen. Both of them, along with many other Vidyadhara kings, are eagerly seeking the maiden's hand. Therefore, a Swayamvara would be appropriate, as it would prevent any conflict." The king agreed to this proposal. ||152-153||
Upon hearing of the Swayamvara, all the princes arrived. However, Prabhavati did not accept any of them, nor did she place the garland around anyone's neck. ||154||
Seeing this, her parents asked her dear friend, Priyakarini, the reason. The friend replied, "She had previously said, 'Whoever defeats me in a battle of skill, I will place the garland around his neck.'" Hearing this, the king, on that day, dismissed everyone with appropriate words. ||155-156||
