## Forty-First Chapter **Forgoing self-praise, devoid of desire, a great ascetic, equal in praise and blame, is praised by the lords of the world.** (11) **Having bowed to the worthy, the one who deserves to be bowed to, because he performed austerities, he is therefore bowed to by the worthy, a treasure trove of unblamable qualities.** (162) **This ascetic, who renounced footwear and vehicles, walking on foot, has performed austerities, and is worthy of having lotus flowers placed at his feet.** (163) **Because he abided in austerities with secret and hidden speech, he has attained divine speech, pleasing all assemblies.** (164) **Because he performed austerities with a controlled diet, abstaining from food, he has attained divine, victorious, supreme, and ambrosial satisfactions.** (165) **Because he became free from the desires and pleasures of the world, and remained steadfast in austerities for a long time, he has become blissful and attained supreme bliss.** (166) **What is the use of saying much? Whatever he renounced, in whatever way, the ascetic, free from thoughts, that very thing becomes his austerity.** (167) **He has attained the highest, the fruit of the wish-fulfilling gem of austerity, because the attainment of the Arhat lineage and form has been described.** (168) **He who, accepting the supreme command of the Jain Goddess, as prescribed in the scriptures, performs austerities, truly attains the Parivrajya.** (169) **And many other things, bound in a web of words, refuted by logic, are to be abandoned, and this supreme Parivrajya is to be embraced.** (200) **Thus ends the Parivrajya.** **He resides in the assembly of the three worlds, that is, the Samavasarana ground.** (190) **He who renounces all desires, abandons self-praise, and performs great austerities, remaining equal in praise and blame, is praised by the Indras of the three worlds, that is, everyone praises him.** (191) **This Muni, having performed austerities by bowing to the worthy Arhat, is therefore bowed to by the worthy, the venerable ones, and is a treasure trove of praiseworthy, excellent qualities.** (192) **He who performs austerities by renouncing footwear and vehicles, walking on foot, is worthy of having lotus flowers placed at his feet, that is, in the Arhat state, the gods create lotus flowers beneath his feet.** (193) **Because this Muni abided in austerities with secret and hidden speech, or by following the rules of speech, that is, speaking words of benefit and friendship, he has attained divine speech, pleasing all assemblies.** (194) **Because this Muni previously performed austerities by observing fasts, or by following a regulated diet and observances, he has attained the four satisfactions: divine, victorious, supreme, and ambrosial.** (195) **This Muni, having renounced the desires and pleasures of the world, remained steadfast in austerities for a long time, and therefore he has become blissful and attained supreme bliss.** (196) **What is the use of saying much? In short, it is enough to say that whatever the ascetic renounces, without any thoughts, that very thing becomes his austerity.** (197) **The fruit of this austerity, which is like a wish-fulfilling gem, is the attainment of the highest position, and the attainment of the Arhat lineage, form, etc., has been described. This is the practice called Parivrajya.** (198) **He who, accepting the command of the Jina,
