The peacocks, laughing like swans, were making a loud noise. Oh, you are fond of the dull, you pure-formed ones! ||16||
The peacocks, with their multi-colored feathers, their desires fixed on the clouds, and dwelling in the mountains, along with the rainbows, had abandoned their own glory. ||20||
The 'Bandhuka' flowers, shining like drops of betel juice spat out by Lakshmi, the goddess of autumn, in the rows of forests, did they not enhance the beauty of the 'Indragopas', the red insects of the rainy season? ||21||
Just as a virtuous woman, with a pure heart, free from sin, and wearing clean clothes, appears outside her home, embracing love for her relatives, so too, the pure, mud-free, and clear-skied autumn, appearing, embraced the 'Bandhujeevas', the 'Bandhuka' flowers, causing them to bloom. ||22||
The sound of the swans was like the beating of drums, the 'Kash' flowers in the forests were like bright fly whisks, and the lotuses blooming in the ponds were like beautiful umbrellas. And from all this, it seemed as if autumn itself had a desire to conquer the world. ||23||
Autumn had adorned the directions with 'Banasan', a collection of 'Ban' and 'Asan' flowers, for the sake of adornment. Just as it is praiseworthy for a king who desires to conquer to take up the 'Banasan', the bow and arrow, to subdue his enemies. ||24||
The cloud-rows, thin and pale, had abandoned all hope, as if they were overwhelmed with anxiety caused by the separation from the rainy season. ||25||
The sky, adorned with stars, was shining brightly, as if it were laughing like a lake filled with lotuses. ||26||
