मांसाहार और अल्लाहार में कोई समानता नहीं, मक्खन में दोष
योगशास्त्र तृतीय प्रकाश श्लोक ३२ से ३३ निराकरण करते हुए कहते हैं-अप्रमाणिक श्रुति-वचनों पर श्रद्धा ही कैसे की जा सकती है? जिस श्रुति में ऐसा वचन सुना जाता है कि 'गाय का स्पर्श करने से पापनाश हो जाता है; वृक्षों को छेदन करने से पूजने से, बकरे चिड़िया आदि पशुपक्षियों का वध करने से स्वर्ग मिलता है। ब्राह्मण को भोजन देने से पितर आदि पूर्वजों की तृप्ति होती है; कपट करने वाले देव भी आप्त हैं, अग्नि में होमा हुआ हवि देवों को प्रीतिकारक होता है। इस प्रकार के असंगत विधानों या | श्रुतिवचनों पर युक्तिकुशल पुरुष कैसे विश्वासकर सकता है? कहा भी है-विष्ठा खाने वाली गाय का स्पर्श करने से पापों का नाश हो जाता है, अज्ञानी वृक्ष पूजनीय है, बकरे के वध से स्वर्ग मिलता है, ब्राह्मण को भोजन करवाने से पितृज (पितर) तृप्त हो जाते हैं, कपट करने वाले देव आप्त माने जाते हैं, अग्नि में किया हुआ हवन देवों को पहुंच जाता
है; इत्यादि वचनों से न जाने, श्रुति की निःसारवाणी की कैसी लीला है? इस कारण मांस से देवपूजा आदि का | तथाकथित शास्त्र में जो विधान है, वह अज्ञानमय है। थोड़े में ही समझ लें। अधिक विस्तार पूर्वक कहने से क्या लाभ? ||३१।।
कोई यह शंका कर सकता है कि मंत्र से संस्कारित होने से अग्नि जलाती या पकाती नहीं है, तथा वह मांस भी मंत्र-संस्कृत होने से दोष कारक नहीं होता। मनु ने कहा है कि शाश्वत वेदविधि में आस्था रखने वाले को मंत्र से संस्कारित किये बिना किसी भी प्रकार पशुभक्षण नहीं करना चाहिए, अपितु मंत्रों से संस्कारित मांस का भक्षण करना चाहिए। (मनु स्मृति ५/२३) इसी बात का खंडन करते हैं।२०३। मन्त्रसंस्कृतमप्याद्याद्यवाल्पमपि नो पलम् । भवेज्जीवितनाशाय हालाहललवोऽपि हि ॥३२॥ ___ अर्थ :- मंत्रों से सुसंस्कृत हो जाने पर भी जौ के दाने जितना भी मांस नहीं खाना चाहिए। क्योंकि हलाहल विष
की एक बूंद भी तो जीवन को समाप्त ही कर देती है ।।३।। ___ व्याख्या :- मांस भले ही मंत्रों से पवित्र किया हुआ हो, किन्तु जौ के दाने जितना जरा-सा भी खाने लायक नहीं है। जैसे अग्नि की दहन (जलाने की) शक्ति को मंत्र नहीं रोक सकता, वैसे ही मांस (चाहे मंत्र संस्कृत हो) नरकादिगति को प्राप्त कराने वाली शक्ति को रोक नहीं सकता। यदि ऐसा (मंत्रों से ही पापनाश) हो जाय तो फिर कोई भी व्यक्ति सभी प्रकार के घोर पाप करके तथाकथित पापनाशक मंत्रों का ही बार-बार जप करके पापों से छुटकारा पा लेगा; कृतार्थ हो जायेगा। अगर मंत्रों से ही समस्त पाप नष्ट हो जाय तो फिर पापों का निषेध करना भी व्यर्थ है। इसलिए जिस प्रकार थोडी-सी मदिरा पी लेने से भी नशा चढ जाता है। वैसे ही थोडा-सा भी मांस खा लेने पर भी पापकर्म का बंधन हो जाता है। इसलिए कहा है-जहर की थोड़ी सी बूंदें भी जीवन को समाप्त कर देती है, वैसे ही जी के दाने जितना मांस भी दुर्गति में ले जाता है ॥३२॥
___ अब मांस से होने वाले महादोष बताकर उपसंहार करते हैं।२०४। सद्यः सम्मूर्च्छितानन्तजन्तुसन्तानदूषितम् । नरकाध्वनि पाथेयं, कोऽश्नीयात् पिशितं सुधीः ॥३३॥ अर्थ :- जीव का वध करते ही तुरंत उसमें निगोद रूपी अनंत समूर्छिम जीव उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं और उनकी बार
बार उत्पन्न होने की परंपरा चालू ही रहती है। आगमों में बताया है-'कच्चे या पकाये हुए मांस में या पकाते हुए मांसपेशियों में निगोद के समूर्छिम जीवों की निरंतर उत्पत्ति होती रहती है। इसलिए इतनी जीवहिंसा से दूषित मांस नरक के पथ का पाथेय (भाता) है। इस कारण कौन सुबुद्धिशाली व्यक्ति मांस
को खा सकता है? ॥३३॥ व्याख्या :- इससे संबंधित कुछ उपयोगी श्लोकार्थ प्रस्तुत करते हैं-मांसभक्षण करने की बात वही करता है, जो मर्यादाओं को तिलांजलि दे बैठा हो, अल्पज्ञ हो, नास्तिक हो, कुशास्त्र-रचयिता हो, मांस लोलुप हो या ढीठ हो। वास्तव में उसके समान कोई निर्लज्ज नहीं है, जो नरक की आग के इंधन बनने वाले अपने मांस को दूसरों के मांस से पुष्ट करना चाहता है। घर का वह सूअर अच्छा, जो मनुष्य की फेंकने योग्य विष्टा को खाकर अपनी काया का पोषण करता है, मगर प्राणिघात करके दसरे के मांस से जो अपने अंगों को बढाता है, वह निर्दय आदमी अच्छा नहीं है। जो मनुष्य को छोड़कर शेष सभी जीवों के मांस को भक्ष्य बताते हैं, उनके बारे में मुझे ऐसी शंका होती है कि उसे अपने वध का भय लगा है। जो मनुष्य-मांस और पशु-मांस में कोई अंतर नहीं मानता, उससे बढ़कर कोई अधार्मिक नहीं।
