अभया द्वारा सुदर्शन को लाना
योगशास्त्र द्वितीय प्रकाश श्लोक १०१ उपयुक्त उपाय है, तुम्हारा! बस, आज से तुम्हें यही प्रयत्न करना है।' धायमाता ने भी अपने बताये हुए उपाय के अनुसार प्रयत्न करना स्वीकार किया। कुछ ही दिनों बाद जगत् को आनंद देने वाला कौमुदी-महोत्सव आ गया। उत्सव को धूमधाम से मनाने के लिए उत्सुक चित्त राजा ने अपने राज्यरक्षक पुरुषों को आज्ञा दी-नगर में ढिंढोरा पिटवाकर घोषित कर दो कि ऐसी राजाज्ञा है कि आज कौमुदी-महोत्सव देखने के लिए नगर के सभी स्त्री-पुरुष सजधज कर उद्यान में आये। सुदर्शन ने जब यह राजाज्ञा सुनी तो खेद पूर्वक विचार करने लगा-'प्रातः काल चैत्यवंदनादि करने के बाद | पूरा दिन और रात पौषध में बिताने को मेरा मन उत्सुक हो रहा है, किन्तु राजा की प्रचंड आज्ञा उत्सव में शामिल होने
की है। अतः क्या उपाय किया जाय? होगा तो वही, जो होने वाला है।' यो विचारकर सुदर्शन सीधा राज | पहंचा। भेंट प्रस्तत करके राजा से विनति की-'राजन। कल पर्व का दिन है। मैं आपकी कपा से चैत्यवंदनादि करके पौषध करूंगा। इसलिए मझे उत्सव में शामिल न होने की इजाजत दें।' राजा ने उसकी प्रार्थना मान्य कर ली। दूसरे दिन सुदर्शन ठीक समय पर चैत्यवंदनादि से निवृत्त होकर पौषध अंगीकार करके नगर के किसी चौक में कायोत्सर्गपूर्वक ध्यानस्थ खड़ा हो गया। धायमाता को विश्वस्त सूत्रों से पता लगा तो वह अत्यंत हर्षित होती हुई अभयरानी के पास पहुंची और कहने लगी-बेटी! आज अच्छा मौका है, शायद आज तेरा मनोरथ पूर्ण हो जाय। परंतु आज तूं कौमुदीमहोत्सव के लिए उद्यान में मत जाना। आज मेरे सिर में बहुत दर्द है यों बहाना बनाकर राजा से कहकर रानी अंतःपुर में ही रुक गयी। 'स्त्रियों के पास ऐसी ही प्रपंच करने की विद्या होती है।' ___पंडिता ने लेपमयी कामदेव की मूर्ति ढककर रथ में रखवाई और उसे लेकर राजमहल में प्रवेश किया। चौकीदार ने पूछने पर कि 'यह क्या है?' कूटकपट की खान पंडिता ने रथ रोककर उसे उत्तर दिया-रानीजी का स्वास्थ्य ठीक न होने के कारण आज वह उद्यान में नहीं जा सकी, अतः कामदेव आदि देवों की पूजा वे महल में ही कर लेंगी, इस लिहाज से इस कामदेव की मूर्ति को हम महल में ले जा रहे हैं। अभी कुछ और देवों का भी प्रवेश कराया जायेगा। द्वारपाल ने कहा-'अच्छा, इस मूर्ति के ऊपर का कपड़ा हटाकर हमें बताते जाओ। अतः पंडिता ने मूर्ति पर का कपड़ा हटाकर उसे बता दिया और महल में ले गयी। इसी प्रकार दूसरी और तीसरी बार भी पंडिता ने मूर्तियों को महल में प्रविष्ट कराया। सच है, नारी में कितनी कपटकला और कुशलता! चौथी बार मूर्ति के बदले सुदर्शन को रथ में बिठाकर ऊपर से कपड़ा इस खूबी से ढक दिया कि देखने वाले को वह साक्षात् मूर्ति ही मालूम दे। इस बार चौकीदार की आंख |बचाकर बिना बताये ही पंडिता रथ को सीधा राजमहाल के चौक में ले गयी और फर्ती से रथ से उतारकर महल में रानी के खास कमरे में ले जाकर उसे सौंपा। कपड़ा हटाकर सुदर्शन को देखते ही अभयारानी कामातुर होकर हावभाव
और कामचेष्टाएँ प्रदर्शित करती हुई उसे विचलित करने का प्रयत्न करने लगी। स्तन आदि अंगोपांग दिखाते हुए निर्लज्ज होकर रानी कटाक्ष करती हुई बोली-'नाथ! कामदेव के तीखे बाणों ने मुझे घायल कर दिया है। आप साक्षात् कामदेव-समान होने से मैं उससे शांति पाने के हेतु आपकी शरण में आयी हूँ। हे शरण्य! स्वामिन्! मुझ कामपीड़िता को बचाओ। महापुरुष तो परोपकार के लिए अकार्य में भी प्रवृत्त हो जाते हैं। आपको जो पंडिता छल से यहां तक लायी है, उस पर आप जरा भी क्रोध न करना।' पीड़ित की रक्षा के कार्य में कपट कपट नहीं कहलाता।' यह सुनकर उच्च पारमार्थिक विचारों में लीन सुदर्शन भी देवमूर्ति की तरह कायोत्सर्ग में निश्चल खड़ा रहा। अभया ने फिर प्रार्थना की'नाथ! आप कछ तो बोलिए! मैं इतनी देर से आपको मनोहर हावभावों से बुला रही हैं और आप हैं कि बिलकुल मौन | धारण किये निश्चेष्ट खड़े हैं। मेरी उपेक्षा क्यों कर रहे हैं आप? इतना कष्ट कर व्रत क्यों अपना रखा है? छोड़ो इसे! मेरी प्राप्ति होने से आपको अपने व्रत का फल मिल गया है, आपकी कार्यसिद्धि हो गयी है, समझिए। हे मानद! विनम्रता पूर्वक याचना करती हुई इस दासी को स्वीकार करो। दैवयोग से गोद में आकर पड़े हुए रत्न को आप क्यों नहीं स्वीकार करते? अब कब तक यह सौभाग्य-गर्व का नाटक करोगे? यों कहती हुई अभया ने अपने पुष्ट उन्नत स्तनों का सुदर्शन के हाथ से स्पर्श कराया, पद्म कमल के समान दोनों कोमलकरों से गाढ़ आलिंगन किया। इस प्रकार के ब्रह्मचर्यभंग के अनुकूल उपसर्ग आये देखकर स्वभाव से धीर सुदर्शन अपने कायोत्सर्ग में निश्चल रहा। सुदर्शन ने मन ही मन संकल्प किया-इस उपसर्ग से किसी भी तरह से छुटकारा होगा, तभी मैं कायोत्सर्ग पूर्ण करके पारणा करूंगा, अन्यथा मैं अपना

But today, do not go to the garden for the Kaumudi festival. Today I have a severe headache,' and making this excuse, she stayed in the inner palace.

The Pandita covered the beautiful idol of Kamadeva with a cloth and placed it on the chariot, and taking it, entered the royal palace. When the guard asked, 'What is this?', the Pandita, the mine of deceit, stopped the chariot and replied - 'Since the queen's health is not good today, she cannot go to the garden, so she will worship the idols of Kamadeva and other deities in the palace itself, so we are taking this idol of Kamadeva to the palace.'

In this way, the Pandita made the idols enter the palace three more times. The truth is, how much cunning and skill a woman has! The fourth time, instead of the idol, Sudarshana was seated in the chariot and covered with a cloth so skillfully that the onlooker would think it was the idol itself. This time, without informing the guard, the Pandita took the chariot straight to the courtyard of the royal palace and quickly took Sudarshana down from the chariot and took him to the queen's special room and handed him over. Seeing Sudarshana after removing the cloth, the fearless queen, filled with passion, started trying to disturb him by displaying gestures and amorous movements. Shamelessly showing her breasts and other limbs, the queen said with a sidelong glance - 'Lord! The sharp arrows of Kamadeva have wounded me. Since you are like Kamadeva himself, I have come to your refuge to find peace from him. O Refuge! Lord! Save me, the one tormented by desire.' Great souls engage even in improper acts for the sake of helping others. You should not be angry at all on the Pandita who has brought you here through deceit.'

Hearing this, Sudarshana, immersed in high spiritual thoughts, remained motionless in Kayotsarga like a divine statue. Abhaya pleaded again, 'Lord! Please say something! I have been calling you with charming gestures for so long and you are just standing completely silent and motionless. Why are you ignoring me? Why have you taken this vow with so much difficulty? Leave it! By attaining me, the fruit of your vow has been obtained, your task has been accomplished, understand. O Honored One! Accept this servant who is begging you with humility. Why don't you accept the jewel that has fallen into your lap by divine arrangement? How long will you continue this drama of pride in your good fortune? Saying this, Abhaya made Sudarshana's hands touch her full, raised breasts, and embraced him tightly with her soft lotus-like hands. Seeing such temptations suitable for breaking the vow of celibacy, the naturally calm Sudarshana remained motionless in his Kayotsarga. Sudarshana mentally resolved - 'I will complete the Kayotsarga and do Parana only after getting rid of this temptation, otherwise I will not be able to complete it.'
