Sans. Series, p. 181 ). व्यलीकम्-विलिअं । कृपणः-किविणो। मृदङ्ग:-मिइंगो-मुइंगो (प्राकृ० सर्व०, प्राकृ० प्रका०)। In this word ऋ is changed to s and उ by 'वृष्टिपृथङ्मृदङ्गनप्तृकवृष्टे' p. 67-Two other forms मिअंगो-मुअंगो are also given in the text, p. 67 and in प्राकृतव्याकरणवृत्ति. S'eshakřishņa mentions all the four forms in the Prâkritachandrika---'मृदंगे मिइंगो मिअंगो मुइंगो मुअंगो मृगे स्यान्मओथो मिओपि। ईषत्-इसि । वेतसः-वेडिसो । दत्तम्-दिण्णं । उत्तमः-उत्तिमो । मरिचम्
-मिरि। पक्काङ्गारललाटे तु ॥१।२।१२॥ p. 58In पक, अङ्गार, and ललाट, अ is optionally changed to इ. Thus पक्कः-पक्को-पिक्को । अङ्गार:-अंगारो-इंगालो । ललाटम् --णिडालंणडालं ( by 'लो ललाटे च', 'टो डः', and 'ललाटे डलो'. Vide p. 110 of the text ). Hemachandra gives णडालं and णलाडं. हरे स्वी॥१।२।१५ ।। p. 58हर changes its अ to ई optionally. हर:--हरो-हीरो । उल ध्वनिगवयविष्वचि वः ॥१।२।१६ ॥ p. 58In ध्वनि &c. अ in व is necessarily changed to उ. ध्वनिः-झुणी (ध्व being changed to झ by 'त्वथ्वद्वध्वां क्वचिच्चछजझा' ॥१।४। ६५ p. 88)। गवयः-गउओ। विष्वच-वीसुं। स्तावकसास्ते ॥ १।२।१८ ॥ p. 58The initial अ of स्तावक and सास्ना is necessarily changed to उ. स्तावकः-थुवओ; साना-सुण्हा (स्न being changed to ग्रह by 'श्नष्णलत्लह्नलक्ष्णां पहः' p. 43 ). चण्डखण्डिते णा वा ॥१।२ । १९ ॥ p. 58In these two words the initial 37 together with the following or is optionally changed to g. चण्डः--चंडो-चुडो; खण्डितः-खंडिओ-खुडिओ । The Prakritachandrikå gives the same change:
