स्टेन कोनो का मत
१८१ पदार्थ का थोड़ा भाग खाया जा सके, और अधिक भाग त्याग कर देना पड़े, उस पदार्थ को साधु को भिक्षा रूप में ग्रहण नहीं करना चाहिए ।
"मेरे विचार से इस मांस और मत्स्य पाट द्वारा गन्ने के समान अन्य पदार्थों का सूचन कराया गया है ।
स्टेन कोनो का मत हर्मन याकोबी के स्पष्टीकरण के बाद ओस्लो के विद्वान् डाक्टर स्टेन कोनो ने मुझे एक पत्र भेजा । उक्त पत्र का पाठ इस प्रकार है :
Prof. Jacobi bas done & great service to scholars in clearing up the much discussed question about meat-eating among Jainas. On the face of it. it has always seemed incredible to me that it had at any time, been allowed in a relgion where ahima and also ascetism play such a prominent role...Prof Jacobi's short remarks on the other hand make the whole matter clear, My reason for mentioning it was that I wanted to bring his explanation to the knowledge of so many scholars as possible. But there will still, no doubt, be people who stick to the old theory.
