पद्मपुराणे
ह्रियते हृदयं कस्माद्दशवक्त्रस्य भामिनि । सन्निधानमिव स्वप्ने प्रस्तावपरिवर्जितम् ॥३६॥ ततो निर्मलसम्पूर्णशशाङ्कप्रतिमानना । सम्फुल्लाम्भोजनयना निसर्गोत्तमविभ्रमा ॥४०॥ मनोहरकटाक्षेषु विसर्जनविचक्षणा । मदनावासभूताङ्गा मधुरस्खलितस्वना ॥४१॥ दन्ताधरविचित्रोरुच्छायापिञ्जरविग्रहा । स्तनहेममहाकुम्भभारसन्नमितोदरी ॥४२॥ स्खलद्वलित्रयात्यन्तसुकुमाराऽतिसुन्दरी । जगाद प्रणता नाथप्रसादस्यातिभूमिका ॥४३॥ प्रयच्छ देव मे भर्तृभिक्षामेहि प्रसन्नताम् । प्रेम्णा परेग धर्मेण कारुण्येन च सङ्गतः ॥४४॥ वियोगनिम्नगादुःखजले सङ्कल्पवीचिके। महाराज निमजन्तीं मकामुत्तम धारय ॥४५॥ कुलपद्मवनं गच्छत्प्रलयं विपुलं परम् । मो 'पेक्षिष्ठा महायुद्धे बान्धवव्योमभास्करः ॥४६॥ किञ्चिदाकर्णय स्वामिन् वचः परुषमप्यदः । सन्तुमर्हसि मे यस्माइत्तमेव त्वया पदम् ॥४७॥ अविरुद्ध स्वभावस्थं परिणामसुखावहम् । वचोऽप्रियमपि ग्राह्यं सुहृदामौषधं यथा ॥४८॥ किमर्थ संशयतुलामारूढोऽस्य तुलामिमाम् । सन्तापयसि कस्मात्स्वमस्मांश्च निरवग्रहः ।।४।। अद्यापि किमतीतं ते सैव भूमिः पुरातनी। उन्मार्गप्रस्थितं चित्तं केवलं देव वारय ॥५०॥ मनोरथः प्रवृत्तोऽयं नितान्तं तव सङ्कटे । इन्द्रियाश्वानियच्छाऽऽशु विवेकदृढरश्मिभृत् ॥५१।।

प्रिये ! हे देवि ! बड़े वेगसे तुम्हारे यहाँ आनेका प्रयोजन क्या है ? ॥३८।। हे भामिनि ! स्वप्नमें अकस्मात् प्राप्त हुए सन्निधानके समान तुम्हारा आगमन रावणके हृदयको क्यों हर रहा है ? ॥३॥
तदनन्तर जिसका मुख निर्मल पूर्णचन्द्रकी तुलनाको प्राप्त था,जसके नेत्र खिले हुए कमलके समान थे, जो स्वभावसे ही उत्तम हाव-भावको धारण करनेवाली थी, जो मनोहर कटाक्षोंके छोड़नेमें चतुर थी, जिसका शरीर मानो कामदेवके रहनेका स्थान था, जिसके मधुर . शब्द बीच-बीचमें स्खलित हो रहे थे, जिसका शरीर दाँत तथा ओठोंकी रङ्ग-विरङ्गी विशाल कान्तिसे पिञ्जरवर्ण हो रहा था, जिसका उदर स्तनरूपी स्वर्णमय महाकलशोंसे झुक रहा था, जिसकी त्रिवलिरूपी रेखाएँ स्खलित हो रहीं थीं, जो अत्यन्त सुकुमार थी, अत्यधिक सुन्दरी थी,
और जो पतिके प्रसादकी उत्तम भूमि थी ऐसी मन्दोदरी प्रणाम कर बोली कि ॥४०-४३।। हे देव ! आप परमप्रेम और दया-धर्मसे सहित हो अतः मेरे लिए पतिकी भीख देओ प्रसन्नताको प्राप्त होओ ॥४४॥ हे महाराज ! हे उत्तम संकल्परूपी तरङ्गोंसे युक्त ! वियोगरूपी नदीके दुःखरूपी जलमें डूबती हुई मुझको आलम्बन देकर रोको-मेरी रक्षा करो।।४।। हे महाबुद्धिमन् ! तुम अपने परिजन रूपी आकाशमें सूर्यके समान हो इसलिए प्रलयको प्राप्त होते हुए इस विशाल कुलरूपी कमल वन की अत्यन्त उपेक्षा न करो ॥४६॥ हे स्वामिन् ! यद्यपि मेरे वचन कठोर हैं तथापि कुछ श्रवण कीजिये । यतश्च यह पद मुझे आपने ही दिया है अतः आप मेरा अपराध क्षमा करनेके योग्य हैं ।।४।। मित्रोंके जो वचन विरोध रहित हैं, स्वभावमें स्थित हैं और फलकालमें सुख देने वाले हैं वे अप्रिय होने पर भी औषधिके समान ग्रहण करनेके योग्य है ॥४८॥ आप इस उपमा रहित संशयकी तुला पर किसलिए आरूढ़ हो रहे हैं ? और किसलिए किसी रुकावटके विना ही अपने आपको तथा हम लोगोंको सन्ताप पहुँचा रहे हो ॥४६॥ आज भी आपका क्या चला गया ? वही आपकी पुरातनी अर्थात् पहलेकी भूमि है केवल हे देव ! उन्मार्गमें गए हुए चित्तको रोक लीजिए ॥५०॥ आपका यह मनोरथ अत्यन्त संकटमें प्रवृत्त हुआ है इसलिए इन इन्द्रियरूपी घोड़ोंको शीघ्र ही रोक लीजिए। आप तो विवेकरूपी मजबूत लगामको धारण
