व्याघ्रसिंहादयः पूर्व क्रीडास्वालिङ्गनोचिताः । अधुना त्रासयन्त्येते प्रजाः कलहतत्पराः ॥२४॥ मनोहराणि दिव्यानि स्थलानि जलजानि च । दृश्यन्ते न तु जानीमः सुखमेभिर्यथा भवेत् ॥२४१॥ अतः संस्करणोपायमेतेषां वद देव नः । यतः सुखेन जीवामस्त्वत्प्रसादेन रक्षिताः ॥२४२॥ एवमुक्तः प्रजामिः सं नामिः कारुण्यसंगतः। जगाद वचनं धीरो वृत्तेर्दर्शनकारणम् ॥२४३॥ उत्पत्तिसमये यस्य रत्नवृष्टिरभूचिरम् । आगमश्च सुरेन्द्राणां लोकक्षोमनकारणम् ॥२४४॥ महातिशयसंपन्नं तमुपेत्य समं वयम् । ऋषभं परिपृच्छामः कारणं जीवनप्रदम् ॥२४५॥ तस्य देवस्य लोकेऽस्मिन् सदृशो नास्ति मानवः । सर्वेषां तमसामन्ते तस्यात्मा संप्रतिष्ठितः ॥२४६॥ इत्युक्तास्तेनं ताः साकं नाभेयस्यान्तिकं गताः। दृष्ट्वा च पितरं देवो विधिं चक्रे यथोचितम् ॥२४७॥ उपविष्टस्ततो नाभि भेयश्च यथासनम् । अथैनं स्तोतुमारब्धाः प्रजाः प्रणतिपूर्वकम् ॥२४८॥ लोकं सर्वमतिक्रम्य तेजसा ज्वलितं वपुः । सर्वलक्षणसंपूर्ण तवैतन्नाथ शोमते ॥२४९॥ गुणस्तव जगत्सर्व व्याप्तमत्यन्तनिर्मलेः । प्रहादकरणोद्यक्तैः शशाङ्ककिरणेरिव ॥२५०॥ वयं प्रभुं समायाताः पितरं तव कार्यिणः । गुणान् ज्ञानसमुद्भूतान् स चैष तव भाषते ॥२५१॥ स त्वं कोऽपि महासत्त्वो महात्मातिशयान्वितः । एवं विधोऽपि यं गत्वा निश्चयार्थ निषेवते ॥२५२॥ स त्वमेवंविधो भूत्वा रक्ष नः क्षुत्प्रपीडितान् । उपायस्योपदेशेन सिंहादिभयतस्तथा ॥२५३॥
वह भक्ष्य है या अभक्ष्य है ? हे स्वामिन् ! यह बतलाइए ॥२३९।। ये सिंह, व्याघ्र आदि जन्तु पहले क्रीड़ाओंके समय आलिंगन करने योग्य होते थे पर अब ये कलहमें तत्पर होकर प्रजाको भयभीत करने लगे हैं ।।२४०।। और ये आकाश, स्थल तथा जलमें उत्पन्न हुए कितने ही महामनोहर पदार्थ दिख रहे हैं सो इनसे हमें सुख किस तरह होगा यह हम नहीं जानते हैं ॥२४१।। इसलिए हे देव ! हम लोगोंको इनके संस्कार करनेका उपाय बतलाइए जिससे कि प्रसादसे सुरक्षित होकर हम लोग सुखसे जीवित रह सकें ॥२४२।। प्रजाके ऐसा कहनेपर नाभिराजाका हृदय दयासे भर गया और वे आजीविकाके उपाय दिखलाने के लिए धीरताके साथ निम्न प्रकार वचन कहने लगे ।।२४३।। जिनकी उत्पत्तिके समय चिरकाल तक रत्न-वृष्टि हुई थी और लोकमें क्षोभ उत्पन्न करनेवाला देवोंका आगमन हुआ था ॥२४४॥ महान् अतिशयोंसे सम्पन्न ऋषभदेवके पास चलकर हम लोग उनसे आजीविकाके कारण पूछे ॥२४५|| इस संसारमें उनके समान कोई मनुष्य नहीं है। उनकी आत्मा सर्व प्रकारके अज्ञानरूपी अन्धकारोंसे परे है ।।२४६ ॥ नाभिराजाने जब प्रजासे उक्त वचन कहे तो वह उन्हींको साथ लेकर ऋषभनाथ भगवान्के पास गयी। भगवान्ने पिताको देखकर उनका यथायोग्य सत्कार किया ॥२४७|| तदनन्तर नाभिराजा और भगवान् ऋषभदेव जब अपने-अपने योग्य आसनोंपर आरूढ़ हो गये तब प्रजाके लोग नमस्कार कर भगवान्की इस प्रकार स्तुति करनेके लिए तत्पर हुए ॥२४८॥ हे नाथ! समस्त लक्षणोंसे भरा हुआ आपका यह शरीर तेजके द्वारा समस्त जगत्को आक्रान्त कर देदीप्यमान हो रहा है ।।२४९।। चन्द्रमाकी किरणोंके समान आनन्द उत्पन्न करनेवाले आपके अत्यन्त निर्मल गुणोंसे समस्त संसार व्याप्त हो रहा है ॥२५०।। हम लोग कार्य लेकर आपके पिताके पास आये थे परन्तु ये ज्ञानसे उत्पन्न हुए आपके गुणोंका बखान करते हैं ।।२५१॥ जबकि ऐसे विद्वान् महाराज नाभिराज भी आपके पास आकर पदार्थका निश्चय कर देते हैं तब यह बात स्पष्ट हो जाती है कि आप अतिशयोंसे सुशोभित, धैर्यको धारण करनेवाले कोई अनुपम महात्मा हैं ।।२५२।। इसलिए आप, भूखसे पीड़ित हुए हम लोगोंकी रक्षा कीजिए तथा सिंह आदि दुष्ट जन्तुओंसे जो भय हो रहा है उसका भी उपाय बतलाइए ॥२५३।।

Thus addressed, Sannabhi, the king, whose heart was filled with compassion, spoke words that revealed the cause of the situation. ||243||
At the time of his birth, there was a shower of jewels for a long time, and the arrival of the gods caused turmoil in the world. ||244||
Let us go to the great and extraordinary Rishabhadeva and ask him the cause of life-giving sustenance. ||245||
There is no human being in this world like him. His soul is beyond all darkness of ignorance. ||246||
Thus spoken to, Sannabhi, along with his people, went to the presence of Rishabhadeva. Seeing his father, the god performed the appropriate rites. ||247||
Then, Sannabhi and Rishabhadeva sat on their respective seats. Then, the people, with prostrations, began to praise the god. ||248||
O Lord, your body, filled with all auspicious marks, is shining brightly, overwhelming the entire world with its brilliance. ||249||
Your extremely pure qualities, like the rays of the moon, bring joy and pervade the entire world. ||250||
We came to your father, carrying our tasks, but these are the qualities born of your knowledge that he speaks of. ||251||
You are a great being, a great soul, endowed with extraordinary qualities. Even a wise king like Sannabhi comes to you to seek certainty. ||252||
Therefore, you, being such, protect us who are afflicted by hunger, and tell us the means to overcome the fear of lions and other evil animals. ||253||
