पपपुराणे ततः संप्राप्तकृत्ये तो समाते सुरतोत्सवे । दम्पती सेवितुं निद्रां खिन्नदेहाववान्छताम् ॥२०॥ . परस्परगुणध्यानवशमानसयोस्तु सा । ईय॑येव तयोर्दूर कोपात् क्वापि पलायिता ॥२०५॥ ततः प्रियांसदेशस्थदयितामूर्धदेशकम् । कृतान्योन्यभुजाश्लेषं परमप्रेमकोलितम् ॥२०॥ महासौरमनिश्वासवासितास्यसरोरुहम् । विकटोरःपरिष्वङ्गचक्रितस्तनमण्डलम् ॥२०७॥ नरोर्वन्तरनिक्षिप्तवनितैकोरुमारकम् । यथेष्टदेशविन्यस्तनानाकारोपधानकम् ॥२०॥ नागीयमिव तत्कान्तं मिथुनं कथमप्यगात् । निद्रा स्पर्शसुखाम्भोधिनिमग्नालीनविग्रहम् ॥२०९॥ जाते मन्दप्रभातेऽथ शयनीयात्समुस्थिता । पाश्र्वासनस्थिता कान्तमञ्जना पर्यसेवत ॥२१॥ दृष्ट्वा परिमलं देहे स्वस्मिन् साभूत् पावती । प्रमदं च परिप्राप्ता चिराल्लब्धमनोरथा ॥२१॥ तयोरज्ञातयोरेवं यथोचितविधायिनोः । अतीयाय निशानेका क्षणादर्शनमीतयोः ॥२१२॥ दोदुन्दुकसुरौपम्यं प्राप्तयोरुभयोस्तदा । इन्द्रियाण्यन्यकार्येभ्यः प्राप्तानि विनिवर्तनम् ॥२१३॥ अन्यदा सौख्यसंमारविस्मृतस्वामिशासनम् । मित्रं प्रमादवबुद्ध्वा तद्धितध्यानतत्परः ॥२१४॥ सुधीर्वसन्तमालायां प्रविष्टायां कृतध्वनिः । प्रविश्य वासमवनं मन्दं प्रहसितोऽवदत् ॥२१५॥
सुन्दरोत्तिष्ठ किं शेषे नन्वेष रजनीपतिः । जितस्त्वम्मुखकान्त्येव गतो विच्छायता पराम् ॥२१६॥ अंजनाका शरीर सुमेरु पर्वतके द्वारा आलिंगित मेघपंक्तिके समान उत्तम कान्तिको धारण कर रहा था ॥२०३।। तदनन्तर जिसके समस्त कार्य पूर्ण हो चुके थे ऐसे सुरतोत्सवके समाप्त होनेपर खिन्न शरीरसे यक्त दोनों दम्पति निद्रा-सेवनकी इच्छा करने लगे ॥२०४॥ परन्तु उन दोनोंके मन एक दूसरेके गुणोंका ध्यान करनेमें निमग्न थे इसलिए निद्रा ईर्ष्याके कारण ही मानो क्रोधवश कहीं भाग गयी थी ॥२०५॥ तदनन्तर जिसमें पतिके कन्धेपर वल्लभाका सिर रखा था, जिसमें भुजाओंका परस्पर आलिंगन हो रहा था, जो पारस्परिक प्रेमसे मानो कीलित था, महासुगन्धित श्वासोच्छ्वासके कारण जिसमें मुख-कमल सुवासित थे, विशाल वक्ष-स्थलकी चपेटसे जिसमें स्तन-मण्डल चक्रके आकार चपटे हो रहे थे, जिसमें पुरुषको जांघोंके बीच में स्त्रीकी एक जाँघका भार अवस्थित था और इच्छित स्थानोंमें जहां नाना प्रकारके तकिया लगाये गये थे, ऐसी अवस्थामें नागकुमार देव-देवियोंके युगलके समान वह अंजना और पवनंजयका युगल किसी तरह निद्राको प्राप्त हुआ। उस समय उन दोनोंके शरीर स्पर्श-जन्य सुखरूपी सागरमें निमग्न होनेसे अत्यन्त निश्चल थे॥२०६-२०९।।
अथानन्तर जब कुछ-कुछ प्रभात हुआ तब अंजना शय्यासे उठकर तथा बगलमें निकट बैठकर पतिकी सेवा करने लगी ॥२१०|| अपने शरीरमें सम्भोगजन्य सुगन्धि देखकर वह लज्जित हो गयी और साथ ही चूँकि उसके मनोरथ चिरकाल बाद पूर्ण हुए थे इसलिए हर्षको भी प्राप्त हुई ॥२११।। इस प्रकार जो पहले एक दूसरेके दर्शन-मात्रसे भयभीत रहते थे ऐसे उन दम्पतियोंकी अज्ञातरूपसे यथेच्छ उपभोग करते हुए अनेक रात्रियां व्यतीत हो गयीं ।।२१२।। दोदुन्दुक नामक देवकी उपमाको धारण करनेवाले उन दोनों दम्पतियोंकी इन्द्रियाँ उस समय अन्य कार्योंसे व्यावृत्त होकर परस्पर एक दूसरेकी ओर ही लगी हुई थीं ।।२१३॥
