________________ ૨૬૦ पद्मपुराणे अब्रह्मण्यमहो राजन् हा मातर्यज्ञपालये' । जीवामि मुञ्च मां नैवं करिष्यामि पुनर्भटाः ।।२७६॥ एवंविधमलं दीनं विलपन्तो विचेष्टितम् । गण्डपदा इव प्राप्ताः समताड्यन्त ते भटैः ॥२७७॥ हन्यमानं ततो दृष्ट्वा सूत्रकण्ठकदम्बकम् । सहस्रकिरणग्राहमित्यवोचत नारदः ॥२७८।। कल्याणमस्तु ते राजन् येनाहं मोचितस्त्वया । हन्यमान इमैाधः सूत्रकण्ठैर्दुरात्ममिः ॥२७९।। अवश्यमेवमेतेन भवितव्यं यतस्ततः । कुवैतेषां दयां क्षुद्रा जीवन्तु प्रियजीविताः ॥२८.०॥ ज्ञातं किं न तथोत्पन्नाः कुपाखण्डा यथा नृप । शृण्वस्यामवसर्पिण्यां तुरीयसमयागमे ॥२८॥ ऋषभो नाम विख्यातो बभूव त्रिजगन्नतः । कृत्वा कृतयुगं येन कलानां कल्पितं शतम् ॥२८२॥ जातमात्रश्च यो देवैर्नीत्वा मन्दरमस्तकम् । क्षीरोदवारिणा तुष्टैरभिषिक्तो महाद्युतिः ॥२८३।। ऋषभस्य विभोर्दिव्यं चरितं पापनोदनम् । स्थितं लोकत्रयं व्याप्य पुराणं' न श्रुतं त्वया ॥२८॥ भर्ता बभूव कौमारः स भुवो भूतवत्सलः । गुणांस्तस्य क्षमो वक्तुं न सुरेन्द्रोऽपि विस्तरात् ॥२८५॥ उद्वहन्तीं स्तनौ तुङ्गो विन्ध्यप्रालेयपर्वतौ । आर्यदेशमुखी रम्यां'नगरीवलयैर्युताम् ॥२८६।। अब्धिकाञ्चीगुणां नीलसत्काननशिरोरुहाम् । नानारतकृतच्छायामत्यन्तप्रवणां सतीम् ॥२८७।। यः परित्यज्य भूभार्यां मुमुक्षुर्भवसंकटम् । प्रतिपेदे विशुद्धात्मा श्रामण्यं जगते हितम् ॥२८८। और ब्राह्मण चिल्ला रहे थे कि 'अब्रह्मण्यम्' बड़ा अनर्थ हुआ। हे राजन् ! हे माता यज्ञपालि ! हमारी रक्षा करो। हे योद्धाओ! हम जीवित रह सकें इसलिए छोड़ दो, अब ऐसा नहीं करेंगे' ॥२७६।। इस प्रकार दीनताके साथ अत्यन्त विलाप करते हुए वे ब्राह्मण केंचुए-जैसी दशाको प्राप्त थे फिर भी रावणके योद्धा उन्हें पीटते जाते थे ॥२७७॥ तदनन्तर ब्राह्मणोंके समूहको पिटता देख नारदने रावणसे इस प्रकार कहा ॥२७८|| कि हे राजन् ! तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। मैं इन दुष्ट शिकारी ब्राह्मणोंके द्वारा मारा जा रहा था जो आपने मुझे इनसे छुड़ाया ॥२७९।। यह कार्य चूँकि ऐसा ही होना था सो हुआ अब इनपर दया करो। ये क्षुद्र जीव जीवित रह सकें ऐसा करो, अपना जीवन इन्हें प्रिय है ॥२८०|| हे राजन् ! इन कुपाखण्डियोंकी उत्पत्ति किस प्रकार हुई है ? यह क्या आप नहीं जानते हैं। अच्छा सुनो मैं कहता हूँ। इस अवसर्पिणी युगका जब चौथा काल आनेवाला था तब भगवान् ऋषभदेव तीर्थंकर हुए। तीनों लोकोंके जीव उन्हें नमस्कार करते थे। उन्होंने कृतयुगकी व्यवस्था कर सैकड़ों कलाओंका प्रचार किया ॥२८१-२८२।। जिस समय ऋषभदेव उत्पन्न हुए थे उसी समय देवोंने सुमेरु पर्वतके मस्तकपर ले जाकर सन्तुष्ट हो क्षीरसागरके जलसे उनका अभिषेक किया था। वे महाकान्तिके धारक थे ॥२८३॥ भगवान् ऋषभदेवका पापापहारी चरित्र तीनों लोकोंमें व्याप्त होकर स्थित है क्या तुमने उनका पुराण नहीं सुना? ॥२८४।। प्राणियोंके साथ स्नेह करनेवाले भगवान् ऋषभदेव कुमार-कालके बाद इस पृथ्वीके स्वामी हुए थे। उनके गुण इतने अधिक थे कि इन्द्र भी उनका विस्तारके साथ वर्णन करने में समर्थ नहीं था ॥२८५।। जब उन्हें वैराग्य आया और वे संसाररूपी संकटको छोड़नेकी इच्छा करने लगे तब जो विन्ध्याचल और हिमाचलरूपी उन्नत स्तनोंको धारण कर रही थी, आर्य देश ही जिसका मुख था, जो नगरीरूपी चडियोंसे युक्त होकर बहत मनोहर जान पड़ती थी, समद्र ही जिसकी करधनी थी, हरे भरे वन जिसके सिरके बाल थे, नाना रत्नोंसे जिसकी कान्ति बढ़ रही थी और जो अत्यन्त निपुण थी ऐसी पृथिवीरूपी स्त्रीको छोड़कर उन्होंने विशुद्धात्मा हो जगत्के लिए हितकारी मुनिपद १. पालये म. । २. जीवं विमुञ्च मा नैव ख. । ३. विप्रसमूहम् । ४. रावणम् । ५. अपाणिनीय एष प्रयोगः । ६. कुरु + एतेषां। ७. ज्ञानं म.। ८. चतुर्थकालागमे । ९. त्रिजगतोन्नतः (?) म.। १०. मन्दिर -म. । सुमेरुशिखरम् । ११. पुराणां म. । १२. नगरी वलय-म.। Jain Education International For Private & Personal Use Only www.jainelibrary.org
