मूलं हि कारणं कर्मस्वरूपविनियोजने । निमित्तमात्रमेवास्य जगतः पितरौ स्मृतौ ।।१९९॥ भविष्यतोऽनुजावस्य जिनमार्गविशारदौ । गुणग्रामसमाकीणी सुचेष्टौ शीलसागरौ ॥२०॥ सुदृढं सुकृते लग्नौ भवस्खलनमीतितः । सत्यवाक्यरतौ सर्वसत्त्वकारुण्यकारिणौ ॥२०१॥ तयोरपि पुरोपात्तं सौम्यकर्म मृदुस्वने । कारणं करुणोपेते यतो हेतुसमं फलम् ।।२०२।। एवमुक्त्वा जिनेन्द्राणां ताभ्यां पूजा प्रवर्तिता । मनसापि प्रतीतेन'प्रयताभ्यामहर्दिवम ॥२३॥ ततो गर्भस्थिते सत्त्वे प्रथमे मातुरीहितम् । बभूव क्रूरमत्यन्तं हठनिर्जितपौरुषम् ॥२०॥ अभ्यवाञ्छत्पदन्यासं कर्तुं मूर्धसु विद्विषाम् । रक्तकर्दमदिग्धेषु परिस्फुरणकारिषु ॥२०५॥ आज्ञां दातुमभिप्रायः सुरराजेऽप्यजायत । हुङ्कारमुखरं चास्यमन्तरेणापि कारणम् ॥२०६॥ निष्ठुरत्वं शरीरस्य निर्जितश्रमवत्तरा । कठोरा घर्घरा वाणी दृष्टिपाताः परिस्फुटाः ॥२०७॥ दर्पणे विद्यमानेऽपि सायकेऽपश्यदाननम् । कथमप्यानमन्मूर्द्धा गुरूणामपि वन्दने ॥२०॥ प्रतिपक्षासनाकम्पं कुर्वन्नथ विनिर्गतः। संपूर्ण समये तस्याः कः प्राणी सदारुणः ॥२०१॥ प्रभया तस्य जातस्य दिवाकरदुरीक्षया । परिवर्गस्य नेत्रौघाः 'सुवनस्थगिता इव ॥२१०॥ भूतैश्च ताडनाद् भूतो दुन्दुभेरुद्धतो ध्वनिः । कबन्धैः शत्रुगेहेषु कृतमुत्पातनर्तनम् ॥२११॥ ततो जन्मोत्सवस्तस्य महान् पित्रा प्रवर्तितः । उन्मत्तिकेव यत्रासीत् प्रजा स्वेच्छाविधायिनी ॥२१२॥

इस कार्यमें कम ही कारण हैं हम नहीं ॥१९८।। संसारके स्वरूपकी योजनामें कर्म ही मूल कारण हैं माता-पिता तो निमित्त मात्र हैं ॥१९९।। इसके दोनों छोटे भाई जिनमार्गके पण्डित, गुणोंके समूहसे व्याप्त, उत्तम चेष्टाओंके धारक तथा शीलके सागर होंगे ॥२००॥ संसारमें कहीं मेरा स्खलन न हो जाये इस भयसे वे सदा पुण्य कार्यमें अच्छी तरह संलग्न रहेंगे, सत्य वचन बोलने में तत्पर होंगे और सब जीवोंपर दया करनेवाले होंगे ॥२०१॥ हे कोमल शब्दोंवाली तथा दयासे युक्त प्रिये ! उन दोनों पुत्रोंका पूर्वोपार्जित पुण्य कर्म ही उनके इस स्वभावका कारण होगा सो ठीक ही है क्योंकि कारणके समान ही फल होता है ॥२०२।। ऐसा कहकर रात-दिन सावधान रहनेवाले माता-पिताने प्रसन्न चित्तसे जिनेन्द्र भगवान्की पूजा की ॥२०३।।
तदनन्तर जब गर्भमें प्रथम बालक आया तब माताकी चेष्टा अत्यन्त कर हो गयी। वह हठपूर्वक पुरुषोंके समूहको जीतनेकी इच्छा करने लगी। वह चाहने लगी कि मैं खूनकी कीचड़से लिप्त तथा छटपटाते हुए शत्रुओंके मस्तकोंपर पैर रखू ॥२०४-२०५।। देवराज-इन्द्रके ऊपर भी आज्ञा चलानेका उसका अभिप्राय होने लगा। बिना कारण ही इसका मुख हुंकारसे मुखर हो उठता ।।२०६।। उसका शरीर कठोर हो गया था, शत्रुओंको जीतनेमें वह अधिक श्रम करती थी, उसकी वाणी कर्कश तथा घर्घर स्वरसे युक्त हो गयी थी, उसके दृष्टिपात भी निःशब्द होनेसे स्पष्ट होते थे ॥२०७।। दर्पण रहते हुए भी वह कृपाणमें मुख देखती थी और गुरुजनोंको वन्दनामें भी उसका मस्तक किसी तरह बड़ी कठिनाईसे झुकता था ॥२०८|| तदनन्तर समय पूर्ण होनेपर वह बालक शत्रुओंके आसन कॅपाता हुआ माताके उदरसे बाहर निकला अर्थात् उत्पन्न हुआ ॥२०९।। सूर्यके समान कठिनाईसे देखने योग्य उस बालककी प्रभासे प्रसूति-गृहमें काम करनेवाले परिजनोंके नेत्र ऐसे हो गये जैसे मानो किसी सघन वनसे ही आच्छादित हो गये हों ॥२१०।। भूतजातिके देवों द्वारा ताडित होनेके कारण दुन्दुभि बाजोंसे बहुत भारी शब्द उत्पन्न होने लगा और शत्रुओंके घरोंमें सिररहित धड़ उत्पातसूचक नृत्य करने लगे ॥२११।। तदनन्तर पिताने पुत्रका बड़ा भारी जन्मोत्सव किया। ऐसा जन्मोत्सव कि जिसमें प्रजा पागलके समान अपनी१. प्रयाताभ्या- म.। २. पदं न्यासं म.। ३. सुरराज्येऽप्यजायत म.। ४. सुदारुणः म.। ५. सघनस्थगिता इव म. । सुघनस्थगिता इव ख. ।

Karma is the root cause of the nature of karma, while parents are merely the instruments in the plan of the world. ||199||
His two younger brothers will be experts in the path of the Jinas, filled with a multitude of virtues, possessors of excellent conduct, and oceans of good character. ||200||
Fearing a fall in the world, they will be firmly attached to virtuous deeds, devoted to truthful speech, and compassionate to all beings. ||201||
O gentle-voiced and compassionate one! The good karma accumulated by those two sons is the cause of their nature, for the fruit is always equal to the cause. ||202||
Having said this, the parents, ever vigilant, performed the worship of the Jina with a joyful heart. ||203||
Then, when the first child was in the womb, the mother's conduct became extremely cruel. She desired to conquer the group of men by force. She wished to place her foot on the heads of her enemies, who were smeared with blood and mud and were writhing in pain. ||204-205||
She even intended to command the king of the gods, Indra. Her mouth roared without any reason. ||206||
Her body became hard, she toiled excessively in conquering her enemies, her voice was harsh and grating, and her glances were sharp and silent. ||207||
Even though a mirror was present, she looked at the sword, and even in bowing to her teachers, her head bent with great difficulty. ||208||
Then, when the time was full, the child emerged from the mother's womb, shaking the seats of his enemies. What creature was as cruel as he in that entire time? ||209||
The radiance of the child, difficult to look at like the sun, caused the eyes of the people working in the delivery room to become as if covered by a dense forest. ||210||
Because of the beating by the spirits, a very loud sound arose from the drums, and headless bodies danced in the houses of the enemies, signifying destruction. ||211||
Then, the father held a grand birth celebration for his son. It was such a celebration that the people were like madmen, doing whatever they pleased. ||212||
