सर्वार्थसिद्धि
नाम क्षेमोल्लास है। खिमलासा उसीका अपभ्रंश नाम है। नगरके चारों ओर परकोटा और खण्डहर प्राचीनकालीन नगरकी समृद्धिके साक्षी हैं। यहाँका जिनमन्दिर दर्शनीय है। इसमें एक सरस्वतीभवन है जिसमें अनेक ग्रन्थोंकी हस्तलिखित प्राचीन प्रतियाँ अब भी मौजूद हैं।
4. प्रकाशनमें ढिलाईका कारण सर्वप्रथम इसका सम्पादन हमने स्वतन्त्र भावसे किया था। सम्पादन में लगनेवाली आवश्यक सामग्री हमें स्वयं जुटानी पड़ी थी। एक बार कार्यके चल निकलने पर हमें आशा थी कि हम इसे अतिशीघ्र प्रकाशमें ले आवेंगे। एक-दो साहित्यिक संस्थाएँ इसके प्रकाशनके लिए प्रस्तुत भी थीं, परन्तु कई प्रतियोंके आधारसे मलका मिलान कर टिप्पण लेना और अनुवाद करना जितने जल्दी हम सोचते थे उतने जल्दी कर नहीं पके । परिणाम स्वरूप वह काम आवश्यकतासे अधिक पिछड़ता गया। इसी बीच वि० सं० 2003 में श्री पूज्य श्री 105 क्षु० गणेशप्रसादजी वर्णीकी सेवाओंके प्रति सम्मान प्रकट करनेके लिए श्री गणेशप्रसाद वर्णी जैन ग्रन्थमालाको स्थापना की गयी और सोचा गया कि सर्वार्थसिद्धिका प्रकाशन इसी ग्रन्थमालाकी ओरसे किया जाय । तदनुसार श्री भार्गव भूषण प्रेस में यह मुद्रणके लिए दे दी गयी। किन्तु प्रेसकी ढिलाई और ग्रन्थमालाके सामने उनरोत्तर दूसरे कार्योंके आते रहनेके कारण इसके प्रकाशन में काफी समय लग गया।
5. भारतीय ज्ञानपीठ इस साल किसी तरह हम इसके मुद्रणका कार्य पूरा करनेकी स्थितिमें आये ही थे कि एक तो जैन साहित्यका इतिहास लिखाने का कार्य इस संस्थाने स्वीकार कर लिया, दूसरे और भी कई ऐसी आर्थिक व दूसरी अड़चनें ग्रन्थमालाके सामने उठ खड़ी हुई जिनको ध्यान में रखकर ग्रन्थमालाने मेरी सम्मतिसे इसका प्रकाशन रोक दिया और मुझे यह अधिकार दिया कि इस कार्यको पूरा करनेका उत्तरदायित्व यदि भारतीय ज्ञानपीठ ले सके तो उचित आधारों पर यह ग्रन्थ भारतीय ज्ञानपीठको साभार सौंप दिया जाय। ग्रन्थमालाकी इस मनसाको ध्यान में रखकर मैंने भारतीय ज्ञानपीठके सुयोग्य मन्त्री श्रीमान् पं० अयोध्याप्रसादजी गोयलीयसे इस सम्बन्ध में बातचीत की। गोयलीयजीने एक ही उत्तर दिया कि अर्थाभाव या दूसरे किसी कारणसे सर्वार्थसिद्धिके प्रकाशनमें श्री ग० वर्णी जैन ग्रन्थमाला कठिनाई अनुभव करती है तो भारतीय ज्ञानपीठ उसे यों ही अप्रकाशित स्थितिमें नहीं पड़ा रहने देगा। वह मुद्रण होने के बाद शेष रहे कार्यको तो पूरा करायेगा ही, साथ ही वर्णी ग्रन्थमालाका इसपर जो व्यय हुआ है उसे भी वह सानन्द लौटा देगा। साधारणतः बातचीत के पहले भारतीय ज्ञानपीठसे यह कार्य करा लेना हम बहुत कठिन मानते थे, क्योंकि उसके प्रकाशनोंका जो क्रम और विशेषता है उसका सर्वार्थसिद्धिके मुद्रित फार्मों में हमें बहुत कुछ अंशोंमें अभाव सा दिखाई देता था। किन्तु हमें यहाँ यह संकेत करते हुए परम प्रसन्नता होती है कि ऐसी कोई बात इसके बीच में बाधक सिद्ध नहीं हई। इससे हमें न केवल श्री गोयलीयजी के उदार अन्तःकरणका परिचय मिला अपि 'तु भारतीय ज्ञानपीठ के संचालन में जिस विशाल दृष्टिकोणका आश्रय लिया जाता है उसका यह एक प्रांजल उदाहरण है।
6. अन्य हितैषियोंसे सर्वार्थसिद्धिका प्रकाशन भारतीय ज्ञानपीठसे हुआ है यह देख कर हमारे कतिपय मित्रों और हितैषियोंको, जिन्होंने इसके प्रकाशन में ग्रन्थमालाको आर्थिक व दुसरे प्रकारको सहायता पहुँचायी है, अचरज होगा। परन्तु यह बहुत ही छोटा प्रश्न है कि इस ग्रन्थका प्रकाशन किस संस्थासे हो रहा है। उनके देखनेकी बात तो केवल इतनी-सी है कि उन्होंने साहित्यकी श्रीवृद्धिके लिए जो धन या दूसरे प्रकार की सहायता दी है उसका ठीक तरहसे उपयोग हो रहा है या नहीं। साधारणतः प्रबन्ध और कार्यकर्ताओं की सुविधाकी दृष्टिसे ही अलग-अलग संस्थाओंकी स्थापना की जाती है। परन्तु हैं वे सब एक ही महावृक्षकी शाखा-प्रशाखाएँ। अमुक फल अमुक शाखामें लगा और अमुक फल अमुक शाखामें यह महत्त्वकी बात नहीं है । महत्त्वकी बात

Goyali ji gave only one answer that if the Shri G. Varni Jain Granthamala is facing difficulties in publishing Sarvarthasiddhi due to lack of funds or any other reason, then the Indian Knowledge Institute will not let it remain unpublished. It will not only complete the remaining work after printing, but will also happily return the expenses incurred by the Varni Granthamala on it. Generally, we considered it very difficult to get this work done from the Indian Knowledge Institute before the discussion, because the sequence and special features of its publications, we found a lot of lack in the printed forms of Sarvarthasiddhi. But we are extremely happy to point out here that nothing stood in the way of this. Some of our friends and well-wishers, who have provided financial and other assistance to the Granthamala in its publication, will be surprised to see that Sarvarthasiddhi has been published by the Indian Knowledge Institute. But it is a very small question as to which institution is publishing this book.
