त्रिषष्टितमः सर्गः
भूभृतोऽतिविषमं तटं रथः संव्यतीत्य दलितः समे पथि । संधिमस्य दधता पुरः पुनर्दर्शितः सपदि तेन सीरिणे ॥ ६२ ॥ सीरिणास गदितस्तटे गिरेः स्यन्दनस्तव ने मज्यते स्म यः । मार्गशीर्णपतितस्य तस्य भो जन्मनीह पुनरुद्गतिः कुतः ॥ ६३ ॥ प्रत्युवाच विबुधो हरेर्म हामारतोमरणपारदर्शिनः । जारसेकरकाण्डकाण्डकापातमात्रपतितस्य सा कुतः ॥ ६४ ॥ इत्युदीर्य मृदुपद्मिनीं पुना रोपयत्यसलिले शिलातले । पर्यपृच्छत्कुतः शिलातले पद्मिनीप्रभव इत्यनेन सः ॥ ६५ ॥ सोत्तरेण तु हलो सुधाशिना सिञ्चता सुचिरशुष्कपादपम् । ● गोकलेवर तृणाम्बुदायिना कृच्छ्रतः प्रतिविबोधितस्तदा ॥ ६६ ॥ सत्यमेव विगतोऽसुभिर्हरिर्यद् ब्रवीषि मम मानुषेदृशम् । सत्यमेतदिह नान्यथेति 'सन् भव्य ! सर्वमगदीर्यथास्थितम् ॥६७॥ सर्वमत्र जिनभाषितं पुरा जानतापि भवता भवस्थितिम् । मासषट्कमतिवाहितं वृथा केशवस्य वहता कलेवरम् ॥६८॥
सम्बोधने के लिए बलदेवके निकट आया || ६१ || उसने एक मायामयी ऐसा रथ बलदेवके लिए दिखाया जो पर्यंत अत्यन्त विषम तटको पार कर तो टूटा नहीं और सम-चौरस मार्गपर आते ही टूट गया । वह देव उस रथको सन्धिको फिरसे ठीक कर रहा था परन्तु वह ठीक होता नहीं था || ६२ ॥ बलदेवने यह देख उससे कहा कि हे भाई! बड़ा आश्चर्य है जो तेरा रथ पर्वतके विषम तटपर तो टूटा नहीं और वह समान मार्ग में टूट गया। अब इसका इस जन्ममें फिरसे खड़ा होना कैसे सम्भव है ? इसे ठीक करनेका तेरा प्रयत्न व्यर्थ है || ६३ || इसके उत्तर में उस देवने कहा कि जो कृष्ण महाभारत जैसे रणका पारदर्शी है अर्थात् उतने विकट युद्ध में जिसका बाल बाँका नहीं हुआ, वह जरत्कुमारके हाथमें स्थित धनुषसे छूटे बाणके लगने मात्रसे नीचे गिर गया। अब इस जन्ममें उसका फिरसे उठना कैसे सम्भव हो सकता है ? || ६४ || इतना कह वह देव, जहाँ पानीका अंश भी नहीं था ऐसे शिलातलपर कोमल कमलिनी लगाने लगा । यह देख बलदेवने पूछा कि शिलातलपर कमलिनीकी उत्पत्ति कैसे हो सकती है ? ॥ ६५ ॥ इसका उत्तर देवने दिया कि निर्जीव शरीरमें कृष्णकी उत्पत्ति कैसे हो सकती है ? उत्तर देनेके बाद वह एक सूखे वृक्षको सींचने लगा । बलदेवने फिर पूछा- भाई ! सूखे वृक्षको सींचनेसे क्या लाभ है ? इसका देवने उत्तर दिया कि मृत कृष्णको स्नानादि करानेसे क्या लाभ है ? तदनन्तर वह देव एक मरे बैलके शरीरको घास पानी देने लगा। यह देख बलदेवने फिर पूछा कि अरे मूर्ख ! इस मृतक शरीरको घास पानी देनेसे क्या लाभ है ? इसके उत्तरमें देवने कहा कि मृतक कृष्णको आहार-पानी देनेसे क्या लाभ है ? इस प्रकार उस देवने बड़ी कठिनाईसे बलदेवको समझाया || ६६ || प्रतिबोधको प्राप्त हुए बलदेव कहने लगे कि कृष्ण सचमुच ही प्राणरहित हो गया है । हे भद्र मानुष ! तू जो कह रहा है वह ऐसा ही है, यही सत्य है, इसमें रंचमात्र भी अन्यथा बात नहीं है; हे सत्पुरुष ! हे भव्य ! तूने ठीक ही कहा है ||६७ || इसके उत्तर में देवने कहा कि यहाँ जो कुछ हुआ है वह सब नेमिजिनेन्द्र पहले ही

The chariot, having crossed the extremely uneven bank, broke down on the even path. The god, having joined it, was again showing it to the Siriṇa, but it was not getting fixed. || 62 ||

Siriṇa said, "O brother! It is a great wonder that your chariot did not break down on the uneven bank of the mountain, but it broke down on the even path. Now, how is it possible for it to be fixed again in this birth? Your effort to fix it is in vain." || 63 ||

The wise god, who was a witness to the end of the battle of the Mahābhārata, replied, "How can he rise again in this birth, who, being struck by the arrow released from the bow held by Jarāsandha, fell down merely by the impact of the arrow?" || 64 ||

Saying this, the god started planting a delicate lotus on the rocky ground where there was no water. Seeing this, Siriṇa asked, "How can a lotus grow on the rocky ground?" || 65 ||

The god replied, "How can Krishna be born in a lifeless body?" After answering, he started watering a dry tree. Siriṇa again asked, "Brother! What is the benefit of watering a dry tree?" The god replied, "What is the benefit of bathing Krishna, who is dead?" Then, the god started feeding grass and water to a dead bull. Seeing this, Siriṇa again asked, "O fool! What is the benefit of feeding grass and water to this dead body?" The god replied, "What is the benefit of feeding Krishna, who is dead?" In this way, the god explained to Siriṇa with great difficulty. || 66 ||

Having understood the truth, Siriṇa said, "Krishna is truly lifeless. O noble human! What you are saying is true, there is no other truth in this; O virtuous man! O worthy one! You have spoken well." || 67 ||

The god replied, "Everything that has happened here was already known to Neminātha, even though you know the state of being. You have wasted six months carrying Krishna's body in vain." || 68 ||

He came near Baldeva for addressing him. || 61 ||
