स एष नारदो राजन् परिपृच्छय यदूत्तमान् । केशवान्तःपुरं द्रष्टुं प्रविष्टोऽन्तःपुरालयम् ॥२४॥ तत्र विष्णोर्महादेवीं प्राणेभ्योऽपि गरीयसीम् । धृतप्रसाधनां साध्वी करस्थे मणिदर्पणे ॥२५॥ प्रेक्षमाणां निजं रूपं सत्यभामा विदूरतः । अद्राक्षीन्नारदः साक्षाद् दृष्टेरतिमिव स्थिताम् ॥२६॥ स्वरूपालोकनाक्षिप्तचेतसा सत्यया यतिः । न दृष्टः सहसा रुष्टो निर्जगाम ततो द्रुतम् ॥२७॥ दध्याविति स लोकेऽस्मिन् सविद्याधरभूचराः। मामुत्थाय नमस्यन्ति राज्ञामन्तःपुरस्त्रियः ॥२८॥ सत्यभामा स्वियं रूपमदगर्वितमानसा । धिग मां नालोकतेस्मापि पृष्टा विद्याधरात्मजा ॥२९॥ तदस्या रूपसौभाग्यगर्वपर्वतचूरणम् । प्रतिपक्षवधूवज्रसंपातेन करोम्यहम् ॥३०॥ रूपसौभाग्यतो ह्यन्यो सत्यभामातिशातिनीम् । हरिलघु लभेत् कन्यां बहुरत्ना वसंधरा ॥३१॥ ततः पश्यामि भाभाया निश्वासश्याममाननम् । कुतोऽनर्थविमोक्षः स्यात् कुपिते मयि नारदे ॥३२॥ इति ध्यायन् खमुत्पत्य कुण्डिनाख्यमयात्पुरम् । यत्र भीष्मो नृपस्तिष्टत्यरिभीष्मो महान्वयः ॥३३॥ रुक्मीति तनयस्तस्य नयपौरुषपोषणः । रुक्मिणी च शुमा कन्या कलागुणविशारदा ॥३४॥ तां ददर्श च शुद्धान्ते शुद्धान्तःकरणः श्रिताम् । पितृस्वस्रानुरागिण्या संध्ययेवोदयश्रियम् ॥३५॥ सौलक्षण्यं च सौरूप्यं सौभाग्यं त्रिजगद्गतम् । गृहीत्वेव हरे पुण्यैः परमैस्तां विनिर्मिताम् ॥३६॥ पाणिपादमुखाम्भोजजङ्घोरुजघनश्रिया । रोमराजिभुजानाभिकुचोदरतनुविषा ॥३७॥
हे राजन् ! यह वही नारद, यादवोंसे पूछकर श्रीकृष्णका अन्तःपुर देखने के लिए अन्तःपुरके महलमें प्रविष्ट हुआ ।।२४।। उस समय कृष्णको महादेवी सत्यभामा, जो उन्हें प्राणोंसे भी अधिक प्रिय थी, आभूषणादि धारण कर हाथमें स्थित मणिमय दर्पण में अपना रूप देख रही थी। नारदने उस साध्वीको दूरसे ही देखा। वह उनकी दृष्टिके सामने साक्षात् रतिके समान जान पड़ती थी। अपना रूप देखने में जिसका चित्त उलझा हुआ था ऐसी सत्यभामा नारदको न देख सकी इसलिए वह सहसा रुष्ट हो वहांसे शीघ्र ही बाहर निकल आये ॥२५-२७|| बाहर आकर वह विचार करने लगे कि इस संसारमें समस्त विद्याधर और भूमिगोचरी राजा तथा उनके अन्तःपुरोंकी स्त्रियां उठकर मुझे नमस्कार करती हैं परन्तु यह विद्याधरकी लड़की सत्यभामा इतनी ढीठ है कि इसने सौन्दर्यके मदसे गर्वितचित्त हो मेरी ओर देखा भी नहीं अतः इसे धिक्कार है ।।२८-२९।। अब मैं सपत्नीरूपी वज्रपातके द्वारा इसके सौन्दर्य, सौभाग्य और गवरूपी पर्वतको अभी हाल चूर-चूर करता हूँ ॥३०॥ रूप और सौभाग्य में सत्यभामाको अतिक्रान्त करनेवाली अन्य कन्याको श्रीकृष्ण शीघ्र ही प्राप्त कर सकते हैं क्योंकि यह पथ्वी अनेक रत्नोंसे यक्त है। सपलीके आनेपर मैं सत्यभामाके मुखको श्वासोच्छ्वाससे मलिन देखूगा। मुझ नारदके कुपित होनेपर इसका अनर्थसे छुटकारा कैसे हो सकता है ? ॥३१-३२॥ इस प्रकार विचार करते हुए नारद आकाशमें उड़कर उस कुण्डिनपुरमें जा पहुंचे, जहां शत्रुओंके लिए भयंकर महाकुलीन राजा भीष्म रहते थे ॥३३॥ उनके नीति और पौरुषको पुष्ट करनेवाला रुक्मी नामका पुत्र था तथा कला और गुणोंमें निपुण रुक्मिणी नामकी एक शुभ कन्या थी ॥३४॥ निर्मल अन्तःकरणके धारक नारदने, राजा भीष्मके अन्तःपुरमें, अनुराग-प्रेमको धारण करनेवाली फुआसे युक्त उस रुक्मिणी नामक कन्याको देखा जो अनुराग-लालिमाको धारण करनेवाली सन्ध्यासे युक्त सूर्यको उदयकालीन लक्ष्मीके समान जान पड़ती थी ॥३५।। वह कन्या ऐसी जान पड़ती थी मानो तीनों जगत्के उत्तम लक्षण, उत्तम रूप और उत्तम भाग्यको लेकर नारायण-कृष्णके उत्कृष्ट पुण्यके द्वारा ही रची गयी हो ॥३६॥ वह कन्या अपने हाथ, पैर, मुखकमल, जंघा और स्थूल नितम्बकी शोभासे,

She was instantly angered and quickly left the place. ||27|| He thought to himself, "In this world, all the Vidyadharas, Bhucharas, kings, and women of their inner apartments rise and salute me. But this daughter of a Vidyadhara, Satyabhama, is so arrogant that she did not even look at me in her pride of beauty. Shame on her!" ||28-29|| "Now, I will crush her mountain of beauty, good fortune, and pride with the thunderbolt of a rival wife." ||30|| "Krishna can easily get another wife who surpasses Satyabhama in beauty and good fortune, for this earth is adorned with many jewels." ||31|| "When she sees me, I will see her face stained with the breath of her sighs. How can she escape misfortune when I, Narada, am angry?" ||32|| Thinking thus, Narada flew up into the sky and reached the city of Kundina, where the great king Bhishma, who was terrible to his enemies, resided. ||33|| His son, Rukmi, was a man of great policy and valor, and he had a beautiful daughter named Rukmini, who was skilled in the arts and virtues. ||34|| Narada, whose heart was pure, saw Rukmini in the inner apartments of King Bhishma. She was like the rising sun, adorned with the glow of love, and she was loved by her maternal aunt. ||35|| She seemed to have been created by the great merits of Hari, possessing the best of auspicious signs, beauty, and good fortune, which were spread throughout the three worlds. ||36|| She was beautiful with her hands, feet, lotus-like face, thighs, and full hips, and her body was adorned with the beauty of her hair, arms, navel, breasts, belly, and waist. ||37||
