४६५ बहुजनपदराजप्राज्यलोकावलोके क्षुमितसकलमल्लास्फोटवल्गाभिरामे । क्रमगहितमिहान्ये तावदादेशमाजो वनमहिषविदृप्ता मल्लयुद्धं प्रचक्रुः ॥३९॥ अथ गिरिगुरुमित्तिम्यूढवक्षोविभागस्फुटदृढभुजयेन्त्रोत्पीलितोद् दृप्तमल्लम् । हरिमभि खलकंसोऽयुक्त चाणूरमल्लं विषमितविषदृष्टया पृष्ठतो मुष्टिकं च ॥४०॥ खरनखरकठोरी मुष्टिबन्धौ विधाय प्रकटितपटुसिंहाकारसंस्थानभेदौ । स्थिरचरणनिवेशौ शौरिचाणूरमल्लावनिभृतममिलग्नौ मुष्टिसंघट्टयुद्धे ॥४१॥ कुलिशकठिनमुष्टिं मुष्टिकं पृष्ठतस्तं समपतितुसकामं राममलः सलीलम् । अलमलमिह तावत्तिष्ट तिष्ठेति साशी:शिरसि करतलेनाक्रम्य चक्रे गतासुम् ॥४२॥ हरिरपि हरिशक्तिः शक्तचाणूरकं तं द्विगुणितमुरसि स्वे हारिहुङ्कारगर्मः । व्यतनुत भुजयन्त्राक्रान्तनीरन्ध्रनिर्यद्वहलरुधिरधारोद्गारमुद्गीर्णजीवम् ॥४३॥ दशशतहरिहस्तिप्रोबलौ साधिषूभावितिहठहतमल्लौ वीक्ष्य तौ शीरिकृष्णौ । प्रचलितवति कंसेशातनिस्त्रिंशहस्ते व्यचलदखिलरङ्गाम्भोधिरुत्तुङ्गानादः॥४४॥ अभिपतदरिहस्तारखड्गमाक्षिप्य केशेष्वतिढमतिगृह्याहत्य भूभौ सरोषम् । विहितपरुषपादाकर्षणस्तं शिलायां तदुचितमिति मत्वास्फाल्य हत्वा जहास ॥४५॥
अथानन्तर जहां अनेक नगरवासी और राजा आदि श्रेष्ठ पुरुष देखनेके लिए एकत्रित थे तथा क्षोभको प्राप्त हुए समस्त मल्लोंकी उछल-कूद एवं तालके शब्दोंसे जो अत्यधिक मनोहर जान पड़ता था ऐसे अखाड़ेमें बारी-बारीसे कंसकी आज्ञा पाकर अन्य अनेक मल्ल जंगली भैंसाओंके समान अहंकारी हो मल्ल-युद्ध करने लगे ॥३९|| जब साधारण मल्लोंका युद्ध हो चुका तब दुष्ट कंसने कृष्णसे लड़नेके लिए उस चाणूर मल्लको आज्ञा दी जो पर्वतकी विशाल दीवालके समान विस्तृत वक्षःस्थलसे युक्त था और जिसने अपने मजबूत भुजयन्त्रसे बड़े-बड़े अहंकारी मल्लोंको पेल डाला था। यही नहीं, पीछेसे मुष्टिक मल्लको भी उसने उनपर रूर पड़नेके लिए अपनी विषम-विषमयी दृष्टि से इशारा कर दिया ॥४०॥
थ सिहके समान आकार और खड़े होनेकी मुद्रा विशेषको प्रकट करनेवाले कृष्ण और चाणूर मल्ल, स्थिर चरण रख एवं तीक्ष्ण नखोंसे कठोर मुट्ठियां बांधकर अविराम रूपसे मुष्टि-युद्ध में जुट गये-परस्पर मुक्केबाजी करने लगे ॥४१॥ वज्रके समान कठोर मुट्ठिका धारक मुष्टिक मल्ल पीछेसे मुट्ठिका प्रहार करना ही चाहता था कि इतने में बलभद्र मल्लने शीघ्रतासे 'बस-बस ! ठहर-ठहर !' यह कहते हुए चवड़े और शिरमें जोरसे मुक्का लगाकर उसे प्राणरहित कर दिया ॥४२।। इधर सिंहके समान शक्तिके धारक एवं मनोहर हुंकारसे युक्त श्रीकृष्णने भी चाणूर मल्लको जो उनसे शरीरमें दूना था अपने वक्षःस्थलसे लगाकर भुजयन्त्रके द्वारा इतने जोरसे दबाया कि उससे अत्यधिक रुधिरको धारा बहने लगी और वह निष्प्राण हो गया ॥४३॥ कृष्ण और बलभद्र में एक हजार सिंह और हाथियोंका बल था। इस प्रकार अखाडे में जब उन्होंने हठपूर्वक कंसके दोनों प्रधान मल्लोंको मार डाला तो उन्हें देख, कंस हाथमें पैनी तलवार लेकर उनकी ओर चला। उसके चलते ही समस्त अखाड़ेका जनसमूह समुद्रकी नाई जोरदार शब्द करता हुआ उठ खड़ा हुआ ॥४४॥ कृष्णने सामने आते हुए शत्रुके हाथसे तलवार छीन ली और मजबूतीसे उसके बाल पकड़ उसे क्रोधवश पृथिवीपर पटक दिया। तदनन्तर उसके कठोर पैरोंको खींचकर 'उसके योग्य यही दण्ड है' यह विचार उसे पत्थरपर पछाड़कर मार डाला । कंसको मारकर कृष्ण हंसने लगे ॥४५॥ १. पीलितं दृप्तमल्लं क., पीडितो दृष्टमल्लं म., ख.। २. अयुङ्क्त = योजितवान्, युक्तचाणूर-म.' ३. पद म. । ४. मृतम् । ५. हरेः सिंहस्येव शक्तिर्यस्य सः । ६. शाल-म. । ७. कोशेषु म.।

**465** In the arena, where many citizens, kings, and other noblemen had gathered to watch, and where the excited shouts of all the wrestlers, along with the rhythmic sounds of their movements, created a captivating spectacle, the wrestlers, one after another, following the orders of Kansa, engaged in fierce battles, their pride and aggression resembling that of wild buffaloes. ||39||

After the ordinary wrestlers had fought, the wicked Kansa, desiring to pit Krishna against him, ordered the wrestler Chanura, who had a chest as broad as a mountain, and whose strong arms had thrown many arrogant wrestlers to the ground. Not only that, but he also signaled the wrestler Mustika with his menacing gaze, urging him to attack from behind. ||40||

Krishna, with lightning speed, snatched the sword from his enemy's hand, grabbed his hair, and with a surge of anger, threw him to the ground. Then, pulling his legs, and thinking, "This is the punishment he deserves," he smashed him against a rock, killing him. Krishna laughed after killing Kansa. ||45||
