सललितमितस्थौ चम्पकं शीरपाणिः 'फणिरिपुरपि नागं तत्र पादामराख्यम् । अभवदभिनवं तद्विस्मयापादि पुंसां नरवरकरिमलद्वन्द्वयोर्द्वन्द्वयुद्धम् ॥३३॥ दृढपदहतिगाढाक्रान्ति चोत्पाटयन्तौ कुटिलितकेररुद्धान् दन्तिदन्तानमाताम् । पृथु भुजबललोलोत्पाट्यमानाग्रबन्धक्षितिभृदुरगवेष्टप्रौढवंशाङ्कुरान् वा ॥३४॥ अदयमथसमूलोन्मूलितोल्लासिता भस्वरदन परिघातैर्घोर निर्घातघोषैः । विरसविरटिते मौ तौ निहस्य प्रविष्टौ पुरमुरुरववेलाक्ष्वेडितास्फोटगोपैः (१) ॥३५॥ कमलकिसलयोद्यत्तोरणद्वारशोभां नृपजनपदशुम्भच्चक्रवालालयालिम् । भुजशिखरनिघृष्टज्येष्ठ मल्लांसकूटौ विशदमविशतां तौ तां महारङ्गभूमिम् ॥ ३६॥ स्वचरणभुजदण्डाकुञ्चिताकारशोमान्यभिनय दृढदृष्टिक्षेपरम्याणि रेजुः । चलित चलनवस्त्रप्रान्तकान्तानि रङ्गे हरिहलधर हेलावल्गितास्फोटितानि ॥३७॥ रिपुरयमिह कंसोऽयं जरासन्धलोकः सलिलधिविजयाद्यास्ते दशामी सपुत्राः । सहलिसहरिचका लोकिनो लाङ्गलोरथं प्रतिपुरुष मशेषं संज्ञयादर्शय तान् ॥ ३८ ॥
हों ||३२|| उनमें से बलभद्र तो बड़ी सुन्दरताके साथ चम्पक हाथीके सामने अड़ गये और कृष्ण पादाभर हाथी के सामने जा डटे । तदनन्तर नर मल्ल और हस्तिमल्लोंकी जोड़ियों में ऐसा मल्लयुद्ध हुआ जो देखनेवाले मनुष्योंके लिए बिलकुल नया तथा आश्चर्य उत्पन्न करनेवाला था ||३३|| यद्यपि हाथियोंने अपने दांत टेढ़ी सूँड़ोंसे छिपा रखे थे तथापि उन दोनोंने उन्हें पैरोंके मजबूत प्रहार और बहुत भारी चपेटसे उखाड़ लिया था । उस समय वे हाथियोंके दांत ऐसे जान पड़ते थे मानो अत्यधिक बाहुबलकी लीलासे जिसका अग्रभाग उखाड़ा जा रहा था ऐसे किसी पर्वत के साँपों से घिरे हुए बड़े बांसोंके अंकुरोंका समूह हो हो ||३४||
तदनन्तर निर्दयतापूर्वक जड़से उखाड़े हुए अपने सुशोभित दांतोंके परिघातसे जो भयंकर वज्रपात के समान जोरदार -- विरस शब्द कर रहे थे ऐसे उन दोनों हाथियोंको मारकर दोनों भाई नगर में प्रविष्ट हुए । उस समय वह मथुरा नगर जोरसे जय-जयकार करनेवाले गोपोंसे व्याप्त होनेके कारण बहुत बड़ा जान पड़ता था ( ? ) ||३५||
तदनन्तर कमलकी कलिकाओंसे जिसके तोरण द्वारकी शोभा बढ़ रही थी एवं जिसके भीतर घेरकर बैठे हुए राजाओं तथा नगरवासियोंसे सुशोभित, कुश्ती के लिए गोलाकार स्थान बनाये गये थे ऐसी बहुत बड़ी रंगभूमि में दोनों भाई, अपने कन्धोंसे बड़े-बड़े मल्लोंके उन्नत कन्धोंको धक्का देते हुए, हर्षपूर्वक प्रविष्ट हुए || ३६ | | उस समय रंगभूमि में अपने चरणों और भुजदण्डोंके संकोच तथा विस्तारसे जिनकी शोभा बढ़ रही थी, जो अभिनयके अनुरूप दृष्टिके दृढ़ निक्षेपसे अत्यन्त रमणीय थीं एवं हिलते हुए चंचल वस्त्रोंके छोरसे जो सुन्दर थीं ऐसी कृष्ण और बलभद्रकी क्रीडापूर्वक उछलना तथा ताल ठोकना आदि चेष्टाएँ अत्यधिक सुशोभित हो रही थीं ||३७|| रंगभूमिमें पहुँचते ही बलभद्रने 'यह यहाँ शत्रु कंस बैठा है, ये जरासन्धके आदमी हैं और ये अपनेअपने पुत्रों सहित समुद्रविजय आदि दशों भाई विराजमान हैं' इस प्रकार इशारेसे कृष्णको समस्त मनुष्यों का परिचय करा दिया। वे समस्त लोग भी उसी गोलकी ओर देख रहे थे जो बलभद्र तथा कृष्ण से सहित था ||३८||
