निशम्य सा स्वप्नफलं स्वभर्तुस्तथास्त्विति प्रीतिमतिप्रपथ । व्यवस्थिता गर्भमधन चाशु जगद्धितं यौरिव तापशान्यै ॥१६॥ यथा यथासौ परिवर्धतेऽस्याः प्रवर्धमानाङ्गमनः सुखायाः । तथा तथावर्धत भूतधात्र्यां जनस्य सर्वस्य च सौमनस्यम् ॥१७॥ ररक्ष गर्भ प्रसवव्यपेक्षः स्वसुः स संक्षोभगतस्तु कंसः । दिनानि मासानसमञ्जसात्मा गुणानपेक्ष्यो गणयन्नलक्ष्यः ॥ १८ ॥ अथोदपादि श्रवणे तु पक्षे ह्यधोक्षजो भाद्रपदस्य शुक्ले । पवित्रयन् द्वादशिकां तिथिं तामलक्षितः सप्तम एव मासे ॥१९॥ सशङ्खचक्रादिसुलक्षिताङ्गः स्फुरन्महानीलमणिप्रकाशः ।
स देवकीसूतिगृहं स्वदीप्स्या प्रदीप्तिमान् द्योतयति स्म कृष्णः ॥ २०॥ स्वपक्षगेहेषु तदाविरासन् स्वतो निमित्तानि शुभावहानि । विपक्षगेहेषु मयावहानि प्रभावतस्तस्य नरोत्तमस्य ॥२१॥ तदा च सप्ताहमहातिवर्ष प्रवर्तमाने निशि जातमात्रम् । हली स्वपित्रा विवृतातपत्रं हरिं गृहीत्वा गृहतो निरैद् द्राक् ॥ २२ ॥
स्वप्न में दिग्गजों द्वारा लक्ष्मीका महाभिषेक देखा है इससे जान पड़ता है कि वह अत्यन्त सौभाग्यशाली एवं राज्याभिषेकसे युक्त होगा। चौथे स्वप्न में आकाशसे नीचे आता हुआ विमान देखा है उससे प्रकट होता है कि वह स्वर्गसे अवतीर्ण होगा । पाँचवें स्वप्न में देदीप्यमान अग्नि देखी है इसके फलस्वरूप वह अत्यन्त कान्तिसे युक्त होगा । छठे स्वप्न में रत्नोंकी किरणोंसे युक्त देवोंकी ध्वजा देखी है इसके फलस्वरूप वह स्थिर प्रकृतिका होगा और सातवें स्वप्न में मुखमें प्रवेश करता हुआ सिंह देखा है इससे जान पड़ता है कि वह निर्भय होगा ||१५||
इस प्रकार पतिके मुखसे स्वप्नोंका फल सुनकर 'तथास्तु' - ऐसा ही होगा - कहती हुई वह अत्यधिक प्रीतिको प्राप्त हुई । तदनन्तर जिस प्रकार आकाश, सन्तापकी शान्तिके लिए जगत् हितकारी मेघको धारण करता है उसी प्रकार उसने शीघ्र ही जगत्का हित करनेवाला गर्भ धारण किया || १६ || जिसके शारीरिक और मानसिक सुखकी वृद्धि हो रही थी ऐसी देवकीका वह गर्भ ज्यों-ज्यों बढ़ता जाता था त्यों-त्यों पृथिवीपर समस्त मनुष्योंका सौमनस्य बढ़ता जाता था ॥ १७॥ परन्तु कंसका क्षोभ उत्तरोत्तर बढ़ता जाता था । फलस्वरूप जिसकी आत्मा अत्यन्त नीच थी, जो गर्भस्थ बालकके गुणों की अपेक्षा नहीं रखता था और जो अलक्ष्यरूपसे गर्भके महीनों तथा दिनोंकी गिनती लगाता रहता था ऐसा कंस, प्रसवकी प्रतीक्षा करता हुआ बहुतके गर्भंकी रक्षा कर रहा था अर्थात् उसपर पूर्ण देख-रेख रखता था |१८|| सब बालक नो मासमें ही उत्पन्न होते हैं परन्तु कृष्ण श्रवण नक्षत्र में भाद्रमासके शुक्लपक्षको द्वादशी तिथिको पवित्र करते हुए सातवें ही मास में अलक्षित रूप से उत्पन्न हो गये ||१९|| जिनका शरीर शंख-चक्र आदि उत्तमोत्तम लक्षणोंसे युक्त था, जिनके शरीरसे देदीप्यमान महानीलमणिके समान प्रकाश प्रकट हो रहा था और जो प्रकृष्ट कान्तिसहित थे ऐसे कृष्णने अपनी कान्तिसे देवकीके प्रसूतिका गृहको प्रकाशमान कर दिया था ||२०|| उस समय उस पुरुषोत्तमके प्रभावसे स्नेही बन्धुजनों के घरोंमें अपने आप अच्छे-अच्छे निमित्त प्रकट हुए और शत्रुओंके घरों में भय उत्पन्न करनेवाले निमित्त प्रकट हुए ॥ २१ ॥ न दिनों सात दिनसे बराबर घनघोर वर्षा हो रही थी फिर भी उत्पन्न होते ही बालक कृष्णको बलदेवने उठा लिया और पिता वसुदेवने उनपर छत्ता तान दिया एवं रात्रि के समय ही दोनों १. प्रीतमतिः प्रपद्य म । २. अथोदयादिश्रमणे म. । ३. प्रदीपवान् म. । प्रदीपमान् ग. ।

Just as the sky, for the sake of the world's peace, holds the rain-bearing clouds, so too did she quickly conceive a child for the benefit of the world. ||16|| As her body and mind grew in happiness, so too did the joy of all beings on earth increase with the growth of her womb. ||17|| Kamsa, consumed by anxiety, guarded the womb, waiting for the birth, his soul base, not caring for the qualities of the child, and counting the days and months without any regard. ||18|| Though all children are born in nine months, Krishna was born in the seventh month, on the twelfth day of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada, in the Shravana constellation, unseen and unobserved. ||19|| Krishna, whose body was adorned with the auspicious marks of the conch, discus, etc., and whose body radiated a brilliant blue light like a precious gem, illuminated Devaki's delivery room with his radiance. ||20|| At that time, due to the influence of that Supreme Being, auspicious signs appeared in the homes of his friends and relatives, while fearful omens appeared in the homes of his enemies. ||21|| Even though there was a heavy downpour for seven days, as soon as Krishna was born, Balarama picked him up, and Vasudeva held a canopy over him, and they both left the house that very night. ||22||
