हरिवंशपुराणे संग्रहेण विमागेन विस्तारेण च वस्तुनः । शासने देशना यस्माद् विभागः कथ्यते ततः ॥७॥ वर्धमानजिनेन्द्रस्य धर्मतीर्थप्रवर्तनम् । गणभृद्गणसंख्यानं भूयो राजगृहागमम् ॥७५॥ गौतमश्रेणिकप्रश्ने क्षेत्रकालनिरूपणम् । ततः कुलकरोत्पत्तिमुत्पत्तिं वृषभस्य च ॥७॥ कीर्तनं क्षत्रियादीनां हरिवंशप्रवर्तनम् । मुनिसुव्रतनाथस्य तत्र वंशे समुद्भवम् ॥७७।। दक्षप्रजापतेर्वृत्त वसुवृत्तान्तमेव च । जननं वृष्णिपुत्राणां सुप्रतिष्ठस्य केवलम् ॥७८।। वृष्णिदीक्षा तथा राज्यं समुद्र विजयस्य तु । वसुदेवस्य सौभाग्यमुपायेन च निर्गमम् ॥७९॥ लाभं कन्यकयोस्तस्य सोमाविजयसेनयोः । वन्यहस्तिवशीकारं श्यामया सह संगमम् ॥८॥ अङ्गारकेण हरणं चम्पायां च विमोचनम् । लामं गन्धर्वसेनाया मनेर्विष्णोविचेष्टितम् ॥८॥
निदर्शनम् । चारुनीलयशोलाभं सोमश्रीलाभमेव च ॥८॥ वेदोत्पत्तिमुपाख्यानं सौदासस्य नृपस्य तु । कपिलाकन्यकालामं पद्मावत्युपलम्भनम् ॥८३॥ संप्राप्ति चारुहासिन्या रत्नवत्यास्ततोऽपि च ! सोमदत्तसुतालाभं वेगवस्याश्च संगमम् ।।८४॥ लामं मदनवेगाया बालचन्द्रावलोकनम् । प्रियङ्गसुन्दरीलाभं बन्धुमत्या समन्वितम् ।।८५॥ प्रभावत्याः परिप्राप्ति रोहिण्याश्च स्वयंवरम् । संग्रामे विजयं तस्य भ्रातृभिः सह संगमम् ॥८६॥ बलदेवसमुत्पत्ति कंसोपाख्यानमेव च । जरासन्धस्य वचनात् 'सिंहस्यन्दनबन्धनम् ॥८॥
तथा जीवद्यशोलाभं कंसस्य पितृबन्धनम् । देवक्या सह संयोगं ततोऽप्यानकदुन्दुभेः ॥८॥ अधिकार संग्रहकी भावनासे संगृहीत अपने अवान्तर अधिकारोंसे अलंकृत हैं तथा पूर्वाचार्यों द्वारा निर्मित शास्त्रोंका अनुसरण करनेवाले मुनियोंके द्वारा गुम्फित हैं ॥७३॥ वस्तुका निरूपण करनेके लिए दो प्रकारको देशना पायी जाती है एक विभाग रूपसे और दूसरी विस्तार रूप से। इनमें-से यहाँ विभागरूपीय देशनाका निरूपण किया जाता है ।।७४।। प्रथम ही इस ग्रन्थमें श्री वर्धमान जिनेन्द्रकी धर्मतीर्थकी प्रवृत्तिका वर्णन है फिर गणधरों की संख्या और भगवान्के राजगृहमें आगमनका निरूपण है ।।७५।। तदनन्तर श्रेणिक राजाका गौतम स्वामीसे प्रश्न करना, तदनन्तर क्षेत्र, कालका निरूपण, फिर कुलकरोंकी उत्पत्ति और भगवान् ऋषभदेवकी उत्पत्तिका वर्णन है ।।७६।। तत्पश्चात् क्षत्रिय आदि वर्णों का निरूपण, हरिवंशको उत्पत्तिका कथन और उसी हरिवंशमें भगवान् मुनिसुव्रतके जन्म लेनेका निरूपण है ॥७७। तदनन्तर दक्ष प्रजापतिका उल्लेख, वसुका वृत्तान्त, अन्धकवृष्णिके दशकुमारोंका.जन्म, सुप्रतिष्ठ मुनिके केवलज्ञानको उत्पत्ति, राजा अन्धकवृष्णिको दोक्षा, समुद्रविजयका राज्य, वसुदेवका सौभाग्य, उपायपूर्वक वसुदेवका बाहर निकलना, वहाँ उन्हें सोमा और विजयसेना कन्याओंका लाभ होना, जंगली हाथीका वश करना, श्यामाके साथ वसुदेवका संगम, अंगारक विद्याधरके द्वारा वसुदेवका हरण, चम्पा नगरीमें वसुदेवका छोड़ना, वहाँ गन्धवसेनाका लाभ, विष्णुकुमार मुनिका चरित, सेठ चारुदत्तका चरित उसीको मुनिका दर्शन होना, तथा वसुदेवको सुन्दरी नीलयशा और सोमश्रीका लाभ होनेका वर्णन है ।।७८-८२।। तदनन्तर वेदोंकी उत्पत्ति, राजा सौदासको कथा, वसुदेवको कपिला कन्या और पद्मावतीका लाभ, चारुहासिनी और रत्नवतीकी प्राप्ति, सोमदत्तकी पुत्रीका लाभ, वेगवतीका समागम, मदनवेगाका लाभ, बालचन्द्राका अवलोकन, प्रियंसुन्दरीका लाभ, बन्धुमतीका समागम, प्रभावतीको प्राप्ति, रोहिणीका स्वयंवर, संग्राममें वसुदेवकी जीत और उनका भाइयोंके साथ समागम होनेका कथन है ।।८३-८६।। तत्पश्चात् बलदेवकी उत्पत्ति, कंसका व्याख्यान, जरासन्धके कहनेसे राजा सिंहरथका बाँधना, कंसको जीवद्यशाको प्राप्ति होना, पिता उग्रसेनको बन्धनमें डालना, देवकीके साथ वसुदेवका समागम होना, 'देवकीके पुत्रके हाथसे मेरा मरण है'
