Chapter 9 - Sutra 49
The one who engages in sexual misconduct is known to cause harm; some Acharyas consider Pulak as a disqualifier for the fourth vow. There are two types of Bakush: instrumental Bakush and bodily Bakush. Those who are attached to instruments accumulate various, precious, and numerous special instruments, and continuously perform their rituals; they are called "instrumental Bakush." Those who engage in rituals for their bodily appearance are termed "bodily Bakush." The reactive Bakushal performs some activities without detailing the fundamental qualities. The Kashayakushal, Nigganth, and graduates do not have such disqualifications.
Three (scriptures): There are five scriptures that include all Tirthankaras. Some believe that Pulak, Bakush, and reactive Bakushal exist eternally in three Tirths, and the rest—Kashayakushal, etc.—can exist in other Tirths as well as in non-Tirths.
(Signs): There are two types: substance (dravya) and sentiment (bhav). The qualities of character (charitra gun) are represented by sentiment, while external forms like specific attire are represented by substance. In five scriptures, sentiment is certainly present; however, substance may or may not be present in all.
In this presence: the three roles are Pulak, Padma, and Shukla. Bakush and reactive Bakushal also hold these roles. If the Kashayakushal possesses the quality of purification of conduct, then it has the aforementioned three roles; and the one with fine qualities,
