Chapter - Sutra 47
Right faith, the householder, renunciation, endless attachments, vision that destroys delusions, calmness, tranquility of delusions, destroyer, diminished delusion, and the Jina are countless in their qualities in sequential order! Right perception, householder, renunciation, infinite attachments, vision that destroys delusions, calming influence, tranquility of delusions, the destroyer, diminished delusion, and the Jina are numberless in their attributes in a sequence of ten. The total exhaustion of all karmic bonds is liberation, and the partial exhaustion of it is nirjara. Thus, when observing the characteristics of both, it becomes clear that nirjara is a precursor to liberation. In this scripture, since the focus is mainly on moksha, the inherent concept of nirjara is discussed here. Therefore, while the process of karmic nirjara is ongoing among all worldly souls, in this context, only the karmic nirjara of specific souls is considered. These specific souls are those oriented toward the realization of moksha. Genuine orientation towards moksha begins with the attainment of right perception and is fully realized in the Jina, i.e., the omniscient state. In gross perception, from the attainment of right perception to the omniscient state, the dimensions of orientation toward moksha are categorized, where the distinctions of results are particularly specific from the previous to the latter categories. The more refined the distinction of results, the more exceptional the karmic nirjara; hence, in the initial states, the karmic nirjara occurs, and in the elevated states, the refinement of results is more prominent.
