Tattvarthasutra states: The 'Meh' from the clouds signifies the non-possession (Anekantavada), and the 'Charitra' signifies nakedness, attachment, woman, negligence, anger, plea, and respect; these are the causes of the seven obstacles. The mentioned causes potentially lead to eleven obstacles for the omniscient being. [13-6]
The number of Samavata obstacles with J is: In twenty-two obstacles, at one time several opposing obstacles exist, such as—cold, hot; conduct, bed; and negligence; thus, the first and the last three cannot co-exist simultaneously. When it is cold, it cannot be hot, and when it is hot, it cannot be cold; similarly, only one can exist at a time among conduct, bed, and negligence. Therefore, one of the five can exist at one time, considering one possible and three not possible; in one soul, it has been stated that, at most, 19 obstacles can exist simultaneously. [17]
Now, it describes the types of Charitra:
Sāmāyika, Chedo, Psthāpya, Parihāra, Vishuddhi, Sūkṣma, Samparāya, and Yathākhāta are the five types of Charitra.
By striving to be established in the state of the soul's purity, that is Charitra. Based on the expectation of the result purity's distinctions, the five mentioned types of Charitra have been assigned to Sāmāyika, etc. as per this criterion: 1. To abide in the state, giving up all impure activities, that is 'Sāmāyika' Charitra.
