In the policy of reducing attachment, one experiences unbearable suffering; indeed, this world is a garden of joy-sorrow, happiness-suffering, and is truly full of difficulties, that is "perception of the world." 4. To attain liberation, it is necessary to develop detachment in the context of attachment; therefore, one should contemplate thinking that the attachment considered as kin should be cast aside as the attachment considered as other, as if to say, "I alone eat and die, and I alone experience the rewards of happiness and suffering heralded by my father," that is "perception of oneness." 5. Due to great delusion, a person forgets the true duties and mistakenly considers the body and other things as his own, and to avoid that situation, it is essential to eliminate the identification with fatherhood towards the body and other things; for this, one must contemplate the differences in the qualities of both—how the body is gross, limited, and inanimate, while I am subtle, unlimited, and sentient, that is "perception of otherness." 6. Since the body is the most desirable object of attachment, one should contemplate reducing attachment to it by thinking, "The body itself is impure, it arises from impurity, it is drenched in impure substances, it is the place of impurity, and it is the cause of the lineage of impurity," that is "perception of impurity." 7. To reduce attachment to the pleasures of sense each sense should be contemplated for its ill effects arising from attachment, that is "perception of aversion." 8. To close the doors of misdeeds, one should contemplate the virtues of restraint, that is "perception of restraint."
