Chapter 8 - Sutra 25
41
What is a stable state? 7. Is it bound in complete self-space or partial self-space? 8. How many regions does it have among the countless, the uncountable, the infinite, or the infinitesimal? The answers to these eight questions provided in the session are as follows:
1. The self-space binds to the particle-skandhas where the qualities such as knowledge, delusion, etc., arise. That is, such skandhas are where that nature is created. Therefore, these skandhas are called the causes of all natures.
2. Karmic particles are received in all directions—upward, downward, and sideways; not by self-space in just one direction.
3. The reason why all mundane beings are in unequal conditions is that their mental, vocal, and physical activities are not the same, leading to variations in the region-bound according to the variation of activities.
4. Some particle-skandhas are not gross but subtle; such subtle skandhas are grasped from them.
5. Only the skandhas existing in the self-space are bound; those outside this space are not.
6. They are bound by only stationary conditions; because, through moving conditions, they do not come together.
7. Each karmic particle has infinite skandhas bound to self-space.
8. The particle skandhas received are made up of infinite, countable atoms. No skandha is made up of a few countable, uncountable, or infinite atoms. 25.
