The Tattvarthasutra now describes the nature of the Anubhava Bandha. The term "Vipaka" refers to the capacity to yield various types of fruits, which is called Anubhava. This Anubhava manifests according to the nature or character of different karmas. It is purified through Veydana.
The individual and its causes: When bound, the intensity of the Karmic passions that cause bondage leads to an ability to produce varying degrees of fruit in each karma; this ability to yield fruit is the "Anubhava and its creation as Anubhava Bandha."
The initial Anubhava of Anumava gives the opportunity to produce fruit; however, it should be understood that each Anubhava, meaning the capacity to provide fruit, corresponds only to the nature or character of the karma it pertains to, and not to the nature of other karmas. For instance, the knowledge-obscuring karma produces results in accordance with its nature, thus it obscures knowledge; but the perception-obscuring karma, and others like it, do not produce results according to their nature, and therefore do not obscure the power of perception or the experiences of happiness and suffering.
