• In a cold country, where there is the convenience of electric lamps, is there a difference in terms of violence between having dinner and having a meal during the day?
Even though it is accepted that dinner has been considered more violent than a meal during the day in the clear perspective of visible violence, especially in a hot country and with the ancient style of lamps, and acknowledging that there are specific circumstances where night may not involve more violence than day, overall, from the community's perspective, and particularly from the standpoint of a renounced life, meals during the day are deemed more commendable than dinner. The reasons for this belief are briefly as follows:
1. From a health perspective, while the light of electricity and the moon may be as good as one wishes, they are not universally, continuously, and healthily beneficial like sunlight; therefore, where both options exist, the use of sunlight is considered more acceptable for health within the community.
2. Since the essence of the renounced path is contentment, it seems appropriate from that perspective to combine all activities of the day with dining, providing rest to the stomach at night, leading to better sleep and assisting in the preservation of celibacy, which consequently also supports health.
