The Tarvathasutra states that one karmic nature's binding is also dependent on another karmic nature. It is pointless to describe various aspects based on different natures because one karmic nature's aspect also pertains to another karmic nature. If it is believed that a certain aspect applies solely to one karmic nature and not to others, this contradicts the principles of scripture. The scriptural principle is that generally, the bondage associated with life occurs together with karmic natures. According to this rule, when knowledge-obscuring bondage takes place, it must also be considered that the other five natures, such as feeling-nature, are also bound. A specific karma can only manifest at a time; however, bondage can occur for that karma as well as for other non-contradictory karmas. Thus, claiming that certain aspects are only relevant to certain natures is hindered by scriptural rules. What, then, does the division of natures mean?
In the division of aspects presented here, one should understand it in terms of the concept of bondage; that is, while experiencing the influx of one karmic nature, bondage is also associated with other karmic natures, and this scriptural rule is applicable only in the context of locale, not in the context of aspects. The summary is that the division of aspects pertains not to the context of locale but to the aspect context; hence, regarding multiple karmic natures as locale-bound does not create a conflict with scriptural rules.
