Chapter - Sutra 14-26
273 And to frighten others, that is the influx of fear (bhayamihaniya). 7. Engaging in conducive actions and nurturing conducive conduct, etc., are the influx of limitations (jugupsahaniya). 8-10. Having the habit of deceit, harboring faults in others, etc., are the influx of women’s issues (strivedana). To instill proper conditioning in women, knowledge in men, and proper conditioning in the neuter gender, sequentially, these are the influx of women's, men's, and neuter issues (napumsakaveda). [1]
The influx of sentient beings begins thus: 1. Engaging in activities that cause suffering to living beings with an inclination, this is "beginning." 2. Holding the resolve, "This thing belongs to me, and I am its owner," this is "possessiveness." When activities of beginning and possessiveness are very intense, and there is incessant engagement in actions like violence, theft of others' wealth is committed, and there exists extreme attachment to enjoyment, then these are the influx of hellish beings (narakayusha). [1]
The influx of those engaged in activities of a lower realm is like this: engaging in deceitful acts or having malicious intentions, that is "illusion" (maya). For example, to claim possession in the name of religion and obtain something in the name of religion, promoting it with selfish intentions, and keeping life devoid of virtue, etc., these are illusions. They are the influx of animal beings (tiryyachayusha). [1]
As for the influx of beings with human births: to restrain engagement and diminished possessiveness, to have a natural disposition of gentleness and simplicity, this is the influx of human beings (manushayusha). [18]
The three types of beings — hellish, animal, and human — have distinct binding causes, which have been mentioned earlier.
