The nature of the bonds of knowledge-obscuring and perception-obscuring karmas is as follows: 1. Knowledge, knowledge-holder, and the means to knowledge, when there is hatred towards them, it means that when the explanation of ultimate knowledge is present, there is a conflict in the mind of a person, concerning that ultimate knowledge, its speaker, or its means. This is called "fault of knowledge." 2. If someone asks something while seeking a means to knowledge, yet despite possessing knowledge and means, if one says in a defiled manner, "I do not know; I do not have that thing," this is "knowledge-hindrance." 3. When knowledge has been practiced and perfected, it is worthy of being given, yet when one encounters a deserving receiver and does not give it due to a defiled attitude, this is "knowledge-mischief." 4. If someone obstructs another in acquiring knowledge with a defiled mindset, that is "knowledge-obstruction." 5. If someone teaches knowledge to another, one should forbid them through speech and body; this is "knowledge-means disturbance." 6. If someone has rightly spoken but due to one's biased reasoning, one reveals flaws in what is reasonable, this is "defamation."
When the aforementioned conditions are related to knowledge, the knower, or the means of knowledge, they are identified as the faults of knowledge; similarly, the same is understood concerning perceptions (be it general misconception, beliefs, or related to means of perception).
