Chapter 3 Sutras 14-26
217
The purpose is to achieve Dhanavishuddhi (purity of wealth), Vinayasa Pannata (conduct of humility), Shila (moral conduct) with extreme carefulness, continuous use of knowledge along with intensity, sacrifices and austerities according to one's strength, the samādhi of sangh (community) and sadhus (saints), devotion to Arihanta, Acharya, Bahushruta, and discourse, not to disturb necessary actions, the influence of Mokshamarg (path of liberation) and the affection in discourse.
The contrary actions such as speaking ill of others, self-praise, covering virtues and exposing vices are considered as the aheṭus (non-purposive actions).
In contrast, praising others, self-condemnation, and humble behavior with non-egoism are the aheṭus of high conduct.
To donate and similar acts should not lead to distractions, as they are the aheṭus of antarāyak (obstacles).
From here to the end of the chapter, there is a sequential exposition of the purposes of all karmic natures related to each fundamental karmic nature. Although the general purposes of all karmic natures are Yajna (sacrifice) and Kashaya (passions), the objective of this chapter is to categorize and show which specific activities from the various actions generated by Kashayas can serve as purposes for specific karmas.
