The substance cannot become distinct. Knowledge, perception, and similar aspects are different manifestations of a single conscious force, which operates through various temporal currents. There is also a causative form of substance, and the various colored manifestations—such as those associated with the blue color—are functioning manifestations of that form. Within the soul, there are continuous manifestations of happiness and suffering similar to those of the conscious force, along with infinite streams of painful and active manifestations. Thus, considering the joyous, vigorous, and other powers of this conscious essence as the cause, infinite powers are realized. In this manner, within substance, there are also continuous streams of scent, taste, touch, etc., akin to the colored manifestations. By acknowledging each stream as a cause, infinite powers such as scent, taste, and touch analogous to the power of form are also realized. In the soul, various powers of consciousness, joy, vigor, and other aspects emerge simultaneously; however, the different manifestations of one conscious power or one joyful power do not occur at the same time, because each power expresses only one manifestation at a time. Similarly, within substance, different powers such as form and scent manifest simultaneously; however, different manifestations of one form power, like blue or yellow, do not occur at the same time.
