Chapter 4 - Verses 15-20
But they are called "less." The deities who reside in the twelfth heaven are calm in their desires; hence, they do not have any wish for sensual pleasures from touch, form, sound, thought, etc.; they remain immersed in the ultimate joy, which is satisfying. It is for this reason that the happiness of the deities above is considered superior to that of those below.
Now it describes the distinctions of the deities in the Chaturanikaya:
Those who dwell in the buildings, the asuras, nagas, the lightning birds, and the winds, those who reside in the sky with an abundance of splendor.
The celestial beings, the sun and moon, the planets, constellations, and scattered stars, constantly revolving around Mount Meru.
Then the vimanas, as stated in the texts, are situated there.
In the Shvetambara tradition, they conceive of twelve kalpas, but the Digambara tradition accepts only six. In this, there are four additional kalpas known as Brahmottara, Kapistha, Shuka, and Shatara, which come in the sixth, eighth, ninth, and eleventh positions. See the comparative appendix for the sutra text of the Digambara tradition.
