In the texts, there is nothing mentioned in the Kalpasutra's Thaviravali or in any similar text regarding this. Hence, if one wishes to state something about the time of Umaswati based on the Thaviravali, it can at most be said that he lived after Virata 471, that is, approximately around the beginning of the Vikram Samvat, but not before. Therefore, more specific information currently remains unclear.
2. In this darkness, there is one ray of light from the time of the old commentator on the Tattvarthasutra, which confines the uncertain northern limit of Umaswati's time. Excluding the commentary considered to be from Swapajna, all the direct commentaries currently available on the Tattvarthasutra are ancient and pertain to Pūjyapāda's Sarvārthasiddhi. Scholars have dated Pūjyapāda to somewhere between the fifth and sixth century of Vikram; therefore, it can be said that the author of the sutras, Umaswati, lived sometime before the fifth century of Vikram.
According to the above reasoning, it appears that Umaswati exists at the earliest during the first century of Vikram and, at the latest, comes around the third to fourth century after Vikram. Determining Umaswati’s exact time from this three to four year interval remains pending.
