This branch comes from the Arya Shantishrenik. The Arya Shantishrenik descends from the Arya Suhasti, who is four generations removed. The disciple of Asuhasti is Susthit-Supratibhaddha, and his disciple is Indradin. Indradin’s disciple is Dinn, and Disha’s disciple is noted as Shantishrenik. Shantishrenik is from the guru of Aavanu Guru, who is Asahagir. Thus, he comes from the first generation of Aavanu. The Suhasti is noted as having a heavenly period at Virat 291, and Vajra at Virat 584, indicating that between the celestial period of Suhasti and the celestial period of Vajra, there are 293 years involving five generations. Therefore, averaging one generation taking 60 years, the early period of the Shantishrenik from Suhasti would be around Virat 471. During this time, it is possible that the Uchchhanagari branch might have emerged from Shantishrenik. Considering that the reader Umasvati is believed to have been from the Uchchhanagari branch of Shantishrenik, and accepting the estimated time of emergence of that branch, it is also difficult to ascertain what Umasvati did after emerging from that branch. This is because in the praise of his Diksha Guru and Vidya Guru, he has stated: "They are beneficial in their teachings; the praises of that Ushanari are not mentioned here." To understand more about Arya Shantishrenik, one should refer to the previous pages of the 'Kalpasutra' text before the root Kalpasutrasthaviraval.
