There are islands with auspicious names such as Jambudvipa and others, as well as oceans with auspicious names like Lavana. All these islands and oceans are circular in shape, surrounded by the east, and have extensive dimensions. In between all of these is Jambudvipa, which is round, has a circumference of one lakh Yojanas, and in its center stands Mount Meru.
In Jambudvipa, there are seven regions: Bharatavarsa, Hymavata, Harivarsa, Videhavarsa, Ramyaka, Hairanyavarsa, and Aravata. The mountains Himavan, Mahahimavan, Nishadha, Nila, Rukmi, and Shikhari separate these regions and stretch from east to west as six mountain ranges.
In Dhātakikhand, the mountains and regions are double that of Jambudvipa. There are the same in Pushkardhādvipa. Human beings exist up to the eastern part of the mountain named Mānusheṭṭara. It consists of Aryas and Mlecchas. Bharat, Airavat, and Videha are all karmabhoomis, following Devakuru and Uttarakuru.
