તવાર્થસૂત્ર જંબુદ્વીપ વગેરે શુભ નામવાળા દ્વીપ તથા લવણ વગેરે શુભ નામવાળા સમુદ્રો છે.
તે બધા દ્વીપ અને સમુદ્ર, વલય જેવી આકૃતિવાળા, પૂર્વ પૂર્વને વેષ્ટિત કરવાવાળા અને બમણું બમણું વિષ્કભ-વ્યાસ-વિસ્તારવાળા છે. " એ બધાની વચમાં જંબુદ્વીપ છે, જે વૃત એટલે કે ગોળ છે, લાખ જન વિધ્વંભવાળે છે અને જેની મધ્યમાં મેરુ પર્વત છે.
એમાં–જંબુદ્વીપમાં ભરતવર્ષ, હૈમવતવર્ષ, હરિવર્ષ, વિદેહવર્ષ, રમ્યકવર્ષ, હૈરયવતવર્ષ, અરાવતવર્ષ એ સાત ક્ષેત્ર છે. એ ક્ષેત્રોને જુદા કરતા અને પૂર્વથી પશ્ચિમ લંબાયેલા એવા હિમવાન, મહાહિમવાન, નિષધ, નીલ, રુકમી અને શિખરી એ છ વર્ષધર – વંશધર પર્વત છે.
ધાતકીખંડમાં પર્વત તથા ક્ષેત્રે જંબુદ્વીપથી બમણું છે.
પુષ્કરાર્ધદ્વીપમાં પણ એટલાં જ છે.
માનુષેત્તર નામક પર્વતના પૂર્વભાગ સુધી મનુષ્ય છે.
તે આર્ય અને મ્યુચ્છ છે.
દેવકુરુ અને ઉત્તરકુરુ બાદ કરી ભરત, એરાવત, તથા વિદેહ એ બધી કર્મભૂમિઓ છે.
