The Tattvartha Sutra states that a particular substance enters everywhere without a body, just like fire in a clay pot.
- Should it then be said that because it is subtle, the variable and the nutritive particles are also non-obstructive?
- Indeed, they can also enter without obstruction; however, here non-obstruction means uninterrupted motion until the ultimate limit. The variable and nutritive particles have uninterrupted motion, but like the elements of light and karma, they do not have uninterrupted motion throughout the entire limit; rather, they have uninterrupted motion in specific parts of the limit - like the area of the body. - The relationship of light and karma with the soul is one of beginninglessness, which is not the case with the first three bodies; since those three bodies cannot remain permanent after some time.
