As it becomes more and more dense, it is said to be subtle or more subtle. For example, the tusks of a boar and an elephant both have equal dimensions. The composition of the boar's tusk is loose, while the composition of the elephant's tusk is denser. Therefore, despite having equal dimensions, the substance of the elephant's tusk is greater than that of the boar's tusk.
According to the definitions pertaining to the size and subtlety of the substance, it becomes evident that the initial substance of the body possesses greater dimensions compared to the prior body. Yet, whatever can be perceived to that extent is demonstrated in these aphorisms.
The body formed of atoms is the initial substance of the composite body. As long as each and every atom remains separate, a body does not form. The collection of atoms is what is called a composite body, and it is from this composite that a body is formed. This composite too must be formed of an infinite number of atoms. The initial composite of the gross body is of infinite atoms, and the initial composite of the body of modulation is also formed of infinite atoms; however, the infinite quantity of the atoms in the composite of the body of modulation is greater than the infinite quantity of the atoms in the composite of the gross body. This superiority holds true for the infinite number of atoms present in the composites of both the modulated and the ingested body.
