બધાના જન્મ એક સરખા હાતા નથી એ વાત જ અહીંયાં બતાવી છે. પૂર્વ ભવનું સ્થૂલ શરીર છેડા પછી અંતરાલગતિથી ફક્ત કા શરીરની સાથે આવીને નવીન ભવને ચેાગ્ય સ્થૂલ શરીરને માટે યાગ્ય પુદ્ગલાનું પહેલવહેલાં ગ્રહણ કરવું એ ‘જન્મ' છે. એના સ’મૂર્છિમ, ગર્ભ અને ઉપપાત એવા ત્રણ ભેદ છે. સ્ત્રીપુરુષના સબંધ સિવાય જ ઉત્પત્તિસ્થાનમાં સ્થિત ઔદારિક પુદ્દગલાને પહેલવહેલાં શરીરરૂપમાં પરિણત કરવાં એ સ’મૂમિજન્મ' છે. ઉત્પત્તિસ્થાનમાં રહેલાં શુક્ર અને શાણિતનાં પુદ્ગલને પહેલવહેલાં શરીરને માટે ગ્રહણ કરવાં એ ‘ગર્ભજન્મ’ છે. સ્ત્રીપુરુષના સંબંધ સિવાય ઉત્પત્તિસ્થાનમાં રહેલાં વૈક્રિય પુદ્ગલાને પહેલવહેલાં શરીરરૂપમાં પરિણત કરવાં એ ’ઉપપાતજન્મ' છે. નિમેટ્: જન્મને માટે કાઈ સ્થાન તે જોઈ એ જ. જે સ્થાનમાં પહેલવહેલાં સ્થૂલ શરીરને માટે ગ્રહણ કરેલાં પુદ્ગલ, કાણુશરીરની સાથે તપેલા લાઢામાં પાણીની જેમ સમાઈ જાય છે, તે સ્થાન ચેાનિ' કહેવાય છે. યેાનિના નવ પ્રકાર છેઃ સચિત્ત, શીત, સ‰ત, અચિત્ત, ઉષ્ણ, વિદ્યુત, સચિત્તાચિત્ત, શીતેાધ્યુ અને સંવૃત્તવિવ્રત. ૧. જે યાનિ જીવપ્રદેશાથી અધિષ્ઠિત-વ્યાપ્ત હોય તે સચિત્ત, ૨. જે અધિષ્ઠિત ન હેાય તે અચિત્ત,' ૩, જે કેટલાક ભાગમાં અધિષ્ઠિત હાય અને કેટલાક ભાગમાં ન હોય તે ‘મિશ્ર,' ૪. જે ઉત્પત્તિસ્થાનમાં શીત સ્પર્શ હાય તે ‘શીત,.' ૫. જેમાં ઉષ્ણુ સ્પર્શ હાય તે ‘ઉષ્ણ’ , ૬. જેના કેટલાક ભાગમાં શીત તથા કેટલાક ભાગમાં ઉષ્ણુ સ્પર્શે. હેાય તે ‘મિશ્ર’ ૭ જે ઉત્પત્તિસ્થાન ઢંકાયેલું અથવા દબાયેલુ હાય તે
