Just as the Tattvarthasutra states that a shot arrow captures rainwater scattered at the time of rainfall and continues to flow away, similarly, during the intermediate state of existence (antarālagati), the restless souls (jīva) also capture the karmic particles, and they are then transferred along with their parent. [31] - Now regarding the differences in births and the modes of being:
"सन्मूर्छ नगीपपाता जन्म। 32। सचित्तशीतसंवृताः सेतरा मिश्राश्चैकशस्तधोनयः॥ 33॥ जरायवण्डपातज़ानां गर्भः। 34। राववाना मुखपत रु I शेषाणां संमूर्छनम्। 36।"
There are three types of births:
Sachitta, Shita, and Sanskṛta are three, and their opposites, Achitta, Ushnu, and Vivṛta, along with the mixed types, i.e., Sachittachitta, Shitushna, and Sanvṛtavivṛta, make a total of nine types of birth.
