1. The name of the Ujjain branch is derived from the gained name of Rajanara. This branch appears to have been named after a village or city. It is difficult to determine which village or city that might be. There are several cities and villages named Nagar in various parts of Hindustan, or bearing names associated with Nagar. "Vadnagar" is an old and well-known city in Gujarat. The meaning of Vad is large, and possibly it could also mean tall. Additionally, it is speculated by scholars that the name Vadnagar was adopted in Gujarat from a city in a former land with a similar name. Therefore, it cannot be firmly stated that the High Nagar branch is related to Vadnagar. Moreover, whether Vadnagar existed during the period when the High Nagar branch emerged is another matter for consideration. The time of emergence of the High Nagar branch as noted by Jain scholars corresponds to the major pilgrimage along the Ganga and Yamuna rivers. Thus, the conception of a connection between Vadnagar and the High Nagar branch does not remain strong. Cunningham writes about this that "This geographic name exists in the current prominent city of Upanagar in the northwestern region."
