Chapter 1 - Verse 26-31
‘Langalika’ and ‘Gamutrika’ are three names. In which, one time it is referred to as ‘Paanimukta’, one time it is referred to as ‘Langalika’, and when it occurs three times, it is referred to as ‘Gamutrika.’ There is no such crooked motion of the soul which requires more than three deviations; regardless of how much the new origin point of the soul is divergent or situated in a crooked line, it must certainly attain those three deviations. In the crooked motion of pudgala, there is no fixed number of deviations; it depends on the motivating cause.

4. The time measurement: The time of interval motion is the lowest at one time and the highest at four times. When there is a straight motion, it is one time, and when there is a crooked motion, it is understood to be two, three, or four times. The increase in the number of times is dependent on the increase in the number of deviations. In a crooked motion where there is one deviation, the time measurement is that in which it is, its time measurement is three times, and in which there are three, its time measurement is understood as four times. The summary is that when in the origin point of a manifestation, when there is movement, it takes one time to reach the place of deviation, and from the place of deviation to the origin point, it takes another time.
