અધ્યાય ૧- સૂત્ર ૩૪-૩૫
૭૩ આધારે પૃથક્કરણ કરતે હોવાથી માત્ર વિશેષગામી છે. આ રીતે ત્રણેનું વિષયક્ષેત્ર ઉત્તરોત્તર ટૂંકાતું જતું હોવાથી તેમને અંદર અંદર પૌવંપર્ય સંબંધ છે જ. સામાન્ય, વિશેષ અને તે ઉભયના સંબંધનું ભાન નૈગમનય કરાવે છે. એમાંથી જ સંગ્રહનાં જન્મ લે છે અને સંગ્રહની ભીંત ઉપર જ વ્યવહારનું ચિત્ર ખેંચાય છે.
પ્ર–ઉપરની ઢબે બાકીના ચાર નોની વ્યાખ્યા તેના દાખલાઓ અને બીજી સમજૂતી આપે.
ઉ૦–૧. જે વિચાર ભૂત અને ભવિષ્ય કાળને બાજુએ મૂકી માત્ર વર્તમાનને સ્પર્શ કરે, તે ગુસૂત્રના.
૨. જે વિચાર શબ્દપ્રધાન બની કેટલાક શાબ્દિક ધર્મો તરફ ઢળી તે પ્રમાણે અર્થભેદ કલ્પે, તે શબ્દના.
૩. જે વિચાર શબ્દની વ્યુત્પત્તિને આધારે અર્થભેદ કલ્પ, તે સમઢના.
૪. જે વિચાર, શબ્દથી ફલિત થતે અર્થ ઘટતે હેયા ત્યારે જ તે વસ્તુને તે રૂપે સ્વીકારે; બીજી વખતે નહિ, તે મૂતની.
જે કે માનવી કલ્પના ભૂત અને ભવિષ્યને છેક જ છેડી નથી ચાલી શકતી, છતાં ઘણી વાર મનુષ્યબુદ્ધિ તાત્કાલિક પરિણામ તરફ ઢળી માત્ર વર્તમાન તરફ વલણ પકડે છે. આવી સ્થિતિમાં તે એમ માનવા પ્રેરાય છે કે જે ઉપસ્થિત છે તે જ સત્ય છે, તે જ કાર્યકારી છે અને ભૂત કે ભાવી વસ્તુ અત્યારે કાર્યસાધક ન હોવાથી શૂન્યવત છે. વર્તમાન સમૃદ્ધિ સુખનું સાધન થતી હોવાથી તેને સમૃદ્ધિ કહી શકાય, પણ ભૂત સમૃદ્ધિનું સ્મરણ કે ભાવી સમૃદ્ધિની કલ્પના એ
