Chapter 1 – Verses 27-30
The subject of purity is not based on minimal or maximal attributes, but rather on understanding the subtlety contained within the subject. For instance, one person may know many scriptures, while another knows only one. Now, if the person who knows one scripture has a deeper understanding of the subtleties of the subject than the person who knows many scriptures, then their knowledge is said to be purer. Similarly, although the subject may be limited, its subtleties are such that in a greater measure, the mind-reading (manahparyay), and omniscience (avadhi) are considered purer.
Now five types of knowledge's subject matter are mentioned:
The connection between the knowledge of thoughts and scriptures exists in all substances and all modes.
The mental knowledge of the mind's modes exists only in the absolute forms of substances.
The mind-reading knowledge exists in the infinite parts of all non-absolute forms of substances.
The omniscient knowledge exists within the substance and all its modes.
