Chapter 1 - Sutra 20
There are types of knowledge in the form of ‘Angakhadya’ and ‘Agapravishta’ in the scriptures. Among them, Angakhadya scripture is of various types such as Utkalik and Kaalik; and Agapravishta scripture is of the category of Aacharak, Sutrakritang, etc.
What is the difference between Akhadya and Angaprivishta?
In terms of the speaker's distinction. The knowledge revealed through Tirkara was accepted by the wise disciple Ganadhara and formulated in a twelve-fold manner. It is untainted. Observing the decline of intellect, behavior, and life due to the faults of time, for the benefit of all, the pure-intellect Acharya, after elaborating on various subjects from that twelve-fold knowledge, created the scriptures. Thus, the scriptures authored by the Ganadhara are Angaprivishta, and those authored by other Acharyas are Angakhadya.
What ancient texts are mainly considered as various types of Agabhaaya?
Aachara, Sutrakrit, Sthaan, Samvaya, Vyaakhya. The twelve are: Bhagavati Sutra, Jnattadhama Katha, Upasakadashadhyayan, Antakriddha, Anuttaraupapatikadasa, Prashnavyaakarana, Vipaksutra, and Drishtivad. Samayik, Chaturvishat Stava, Vandana, Pratikraman, Kayaotsarga, and Pratyakhyan are the six necessary as well as Dashavaikalika, Uttaradhyayan, Dashashrutaskandha, Kalpa.
